Nice pics bro dragonfly, now i'm 65% sure i'll go for D700 and considering i've 2 good lens that can be used on fx body.

The two pics posted can see the crop factor differences also! D700 definately not most ideal for tele photography.

Thanks subzero!! But I'm not a "bro"! :bsmilie:

Yes, erictan, the crop factor has me holding off on the D700 purchase for the time being.

Thanks Sis dragonfly, you must be strong girl/woman to carry two body with you and your 70-200. Well guess more or less i'll get D700, this weekend or next! Aidil got yours already?

I wanted to but can't decide where to buy in order to get a good deal. CP offers me $3,580 with free Lowepro bag & CF memory stick. But elsewhere $4,079 with SB-900 flash. So decisions, decisions.

There is a promotion by nikon for d700. Free lowepro 190aw bag, lexar 8gb professional cf card and nikon capture nx2 software.

And how much is that?
you mean the camera body? you can buy from any of your favourite shop and go to nikon show room with the receipt and warranty card to collect the freebies. nx2 itself is about $270, lexar card about $120, the bag is about $50. so total you get about $440 worth of free gifts. :)

act fast, i think left one more day only. :)

just get it from JOHN3:16,Funan..
i'v just bought it last week.. together with Nikkor 24-70f2.8 for 6100..
I think it should be 3500 for the body (bonus:lexar 8gb, lower pro bag and software), look for Samuel Gan, a very nice guy to talk to..
Cheers...

That's like a very pro piece of glass you got there, mate. Hope you are having fun with it. :)

My arms were complaining very loudly to me that evening!! But I love the 70-200 and will gladly carry it around with me!!

Before i rush into buying D700 instead of D300, i would like D700 user here to justify for my 3.5K that i will be spending. I've been searching online for sample pics, there seem not much night portrait, night shots, indoor shots around to show it's superior low noise @ high ISO. Perhaps i did not search thorough enough, but can D700 user post their best picture here?

Frankly I didn't realise that I was going to need new lenses when I was going to buy the D700. So I actually bought the kit lens 24-120 mm VR when I bought the body as I wanted to shoot full frame badly. So, yes, cost will be a decision you would have to think about because I found out that my D80 remote also cannot be used on the D700. The D700 remote (which I did not buy) is about 500 dollars! (I need one actually as I like macro as well, apart from other aspects of photography.) My D80 DX kit lens I can use on the D700 but there is the vignetting issue and the reduction in sensor resolution.

I feel that lenses are important, and if you want to buy the D700, you will need FX lenses to really enjoy your new toy. One of the lenses I use on the D700 is my AFS VR 105mm F2.8G Micro IF-ED. I have been happy with the results.

By the way, I love the shutter sound of the D700. It reminds me of my Nikon film cameras.

Hi there,

Where can we rent cameras in Singapore? Anywhere we can rent the D3x?

crop factor can be an advantage and a disadvantage.

if you are not too particular with the loss of resolution, D700 can do DX but at a lower MP.

I read somewhere that your sensor resolution will be reduced from 12.1 megapixels to 5.1 megapixels if you use the D700 on DX lenses.

Hi 3rd wheel, you can check out the stickies under commercial services offered - http://www.clubsnap.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=54 I rented mine from Camera Rental Centre and they provide excellant service! Not sure if they have the D3x but you can always ask.

I use my 17-55 DX most of the time and I guess when I get the D700, I'm going to have to switch to the 24-70 - nothing less!

500 for a remote? Is there any shutter release or something we can use. Not that it's a very important issue, but at the same time, I would love to use a remote on a D700 as well.

I was told the cable release type is cheaper. But I was quite shocked by the price quoted on the remote type as the D80 that I own is actually quite reasonable - below a hundred dollars.

Coming from a D50 user, who's remote is 15dollars from CP like 3-4yrs ago, I am also quite shocked haha...
