4 GP 1500mAH batteries. Leaked inside, but batteries still managed to appear dry. Very strange.

Is the lasting of GP, Sony, Sanyo...etc. got anything to do with the charger use? When you guys make comparison, are you charging them all with the same intelligent charger? I heard (not sure if it is true) GP Power Bank II doesn't charge till very full even after 16 hours compare to intelligent charger...

Any comments?

Well, that's because they charge at a fixed current for a fixed time (e.g. 16 hours, 5 hours etc). They are meant for a certain mAH rating of batteries. So if you used a charger meant for 1600mAH batteries to charge 1800mAH batteries, it might not be fully charged.

Seems like there's a few bad experiences with GP batteries, wonder why many people are still going for GP products.. cheap? Anyhow, I'm sticking to the Sanyos... found them to be reliable with decent performance.

I think the reason is that they're easily available. Everywhere you go, if the shops sell rechargeable batteries, you could find GP most of the time.

Yeah...the more people buy...the famous it gets...thus more and more are buying GP...

U're right, its cheaper, easily available and hence more people will buy it. Funny world isnt it, the better product doesnt always turns up to have the best sales. Speaking of GP batteries, was surprised to find a pair of GP 1300mAh AA batteries sold at JB Giant for M$45!!! Couldnt believe it... why r rechargeable batteries so expensive across the causeway?

Certainly an expensive lesson :-( Well, sticking to Japan made batteries should be a safer bet. It is indeed strange that the batteries remained dry. For disposable batteries, it'll be noticeably wet once it starts to leak. Maybe its different for Ni-Mhs?

GP batteries are quite overpriced in any other place than Mustafa and perhaps some shops in Sim Lim. Dunno why. BIG difference in prices even within SG.

Wait until you see photo shops in JB selling GP 1600mAh together with the Power Bank II at over RM100...and if you buy the set together with camera/lens...then you will get "discounted price" at around RM80.

FYI, Fuji Provia 400F is selling at over RM30 here...the demand is less...thus shops have to take into account the time/investment they make...

Many are just using Panasonic rechargeable here...those you can find at normal shop. Those cheaper one...not sure how many mAh...

Hee hee... Yah, the GP leaks, have to admit that, they are dry when they leak but the packaging appears wet....

Time to get new batteries~

I had also in mind to get some Sanyos 1600mA .
After all this positive comments , i will get them for sure .

Too bad that the GP ,turn down to be that bad , it was very promising in performance , at list in the pappers .

Someone measured the GP1800 and found to be only 1600+ mah. The Sanyo 1600 at about 1500+ mah

And interestingly, my Sanyo 1500 and 1600mAH batteries seem to last longer than my GP 1800 ones....

Anyway, I'm still using GPs.... I got around 20 of them sitting in all sorts of appliances... But I guess I'll try out the Sanyo and the Rayovac when I buy more recharables...

Next time post a link too .

I got my Sanyos today , the first charge took 6 hours ,my guess is that they were dead empty .

About the Sanyos power , i will say that they have very good ratings , i will post again after some charging cycles ,my personal opinion .
The NiMH need several charging cycles ,until to get from them the full performance .

I am skeptical when some people do batteries reviews ,and they have not do ,severall charging cycles first .
How can we take this results as a fact ??!!

A proxy to check out the battery's performance could be the voltage after charging. I found that my better batteries reach >1.4V newly charged.

Is it okay to use a different battery brand on a charger?
Like Sony batteries on a GP charger?
Of course both are 1600mAH.

4.75 $ US its one .
I got them localy in my hometown, here in Greece , they are the easyest NIMH to find around here .

you can get Sanyo rechargeables in Singapore from Mustafa and Alan Photo (?) and they're cheap.
