Hiee...
Well, just to share my thoughts abotu the G-lens...
They are mainly of fixed aperture with the slowest being the 400mm f4.5.
Mostly f2.8,f3,5,f4,f4.5.
All of these lens are well corrected with sharpness from corner to corner - easily even at widest aperture. Focus speeds may not be the fastest even with SSM. Have owend the 80-200f2.8 and its one of a kind lens - good performer.
Image quality, brilliance and richness in color is one of the key things i realise after having a chance to use the following G-lens:
- 80-200f2.8
- 70-200f2.8SSM
- 17-35f3.5
- 200f4 Macro
- 400f4.5
*For those long white lens....i got to know that their body are normally machined from solid blocks of material $$$$- not molded. Though good in mechanical strength - the white paint may peel off easily as the barrels are mainly metal and these whit epaints dont stick to it that well. Cosmetics dont effect image quality - but too bad thats what many ppl. look at when buying these used lens.
Richness in the colors due to their fast'ness and solid construction is a good to have. It give some people that extra satisfaction and also professionals(earning money from photog) a leading edge for consistent image quality.
