Best lens for the D90

Alright, i'll go buy some cornea for my D90

PS: the cornea is not a lens, it's just a layer of modified skin over your eye where the sclera isn't. You do have 2 real lenses though :)

The curvature of the cornea is the main 'lens' that helps focus the image on the retina. The crystalline lens only helps to accomodate focus, but the main refraction still comes from the cornea.

hi guys.. im a newbie n i bought a D90 a few mths back wit kit lens 18-55mm and 55-200mm but im very2 disappointed wit the photos i took.. for example out of 50 photos i shot, only 3-4 will capture my attention. the rest will either be too blur, too dark, etc2.. haiz.. i envy those who took street photos using prime lens.. cos their pic turns out to be very sharp and the color is very nice! haiz..

Understand your basics by shooting more and learning through your mistakes..

Primes lenses have their uses and zooms have their uses. Most important is to develop an eye for composition. If you haven't done that, shoot wider and come back and go through each of the images and see how you could best crop them.

Suggest you swap your 18-55mm for a 18-105mm. This is one of the sharpest Nikon kit lens in the market.

Good pics do not always need good lenses, the primes your friends own probably give them an advantage in low light and provide stronger bokeh. Other things such as exposure, colour, composition can be improved with your already neat gear list. In fact with your zooms you have the luxury to compose the photo while standing still, while your friends have to "zoom" with their feet. How about sticking with your kit and see what you get? When the will is weak, borrow one of their primes to sate your desire. :p

Probably better for him to take a longer time to compose the shot and get it right 1st time in the initial stages, might save him lots of editing time in the future...

Hmm... Another way is to find kakis to go shoot and share experience. ;p

Waaa so many people dumping their Kit lens.

Let me know if you all are selling. I may want to get one.

How about getting this 3 lens

12-24 F4 Tokina for landscape

35mm F1.8 Nik Prime as your indoor lens for indoor shoot

85mm F1.8 Nik Prime as your outdoor portrait lens

Get a SB 600 as well

Just a suggestion. Cheers

After they have accumulated experience, they will be searching to buy back the kit lenses. ;p

:bsmilie: ya...

As for me, I bought body only as the kit was out of stock everywhere when I was buying it.

i also jus buy the body...
cos i read quite a fair bit abt the kit len plastic mount breakin...
n i realised that i can get the kit len off the BnS for a price lower than the difference i am payin for between kit set and body set.

Haha.. Just buy the 18-200VR.. It's a more versatile (but more expensive) 'kit lens'. ;p Basically, it replaces 18-70, 18-135, 18-105VR. The only kit lens it could not replace is the 18-55VR because that's so small and light.

I thought it was other way around.. body only out of stock and kit lens set widely available.. D90 is really in demand.. :)

yes... i gave away my kit lens and bought 11-16mm, 50mm, and 150mm... now i feel like selling all and get the kit lens back... buy a SB800, and good tripod and ballhead...

having all those good lenses but don't have good enough support system i.e. Tripod and Ballhead is really wasting all those sharp lenses...

Yea, but but.... I have so many lenses on my list...

My Tamron 17-50/2.8 is good to me so far, and I have a 24-120 old FX lens to use as a walkabout. Plus I have the 55-200VR for some tele. And I have 2 50mms, 1.8 and 1.2. Now I am really craving a UWA, either toki 11-16 or the sigma 10-20. The 18-200 just have to wait for now...
