still going through photos but fairly satisfied with these two so far.
these were taken from inside the tennis courts at marina square (it was a free spot that not many knew about). it was pretty much a straight away so the cars were at top speed and very very difficult to pan and shoot...

To me it is quite evident that the Red Bull car has been shot somewhere else and then 'cut & paste' on the picture of the street.
The line is the wrong one (F1 cars were racing in the other direction).
The camera setting (f/16, 30s) are relevant to the shot of the street, I bet.
The picture of the street has been heavily postprocessed in PS to add the blur, de-focus and white balance to match.

The overall result is quite good (I would have done this!), but after a couple of seconds you realize it is a PS work rather than an actual picture.
Am I right, Anka?

i didnt stay until night...
so only got the formula bmw, taken in front of my office at friday practise session behind the bar...

350d 135/2, cropped since my lens not long enough :(

so how does this clubsnap community work???

are the TS suppose to share how he accomplished shots such as the first picture or it is a hush hush thing not to be shared as it is what the TS used to make a living?

Take a chill pill.

anka has already said that this is a rig shot. Traditionally rig shots are a fairly secretive art, especially for people who custom build their own rigs to achieve a certain spectacular angle no one else has. The rig is usually cloned out in post process. In this case, 30 sec exposure is not impossible if the F1 car is merely creeping forward, with engine off, perhaps towed by another vehicle or even a few people pulling.

You could go over to the General Photography Tips and Techniques section to ask how this is done. You could also google the variety of methods rig shots can be made.

And yes, rig shots can be the bread and butter of automotive photographers, flip through magazines (particular US based ones) and you will see an over-use of this, so there can be money involved. Moreover, anka did say that he was hired to shoot the images of the Red Bull F1 car too.

nope. photoshop is only 10% of the image. retouching took me less than 5mins to do. I only used clone and heal and desat.

I would love to share how my rig is like. that the rest of my peers overseas will have my head on their chopping board.

also the shot is done with engine off. was told that redbull would get fined by LTA if they start the engine on the road.

Very nice and interesting shot you have.

Perhaps not the rig but it will be good to share how the over setup is like so that everyone can learn the basic concepts -> from moving car/van/truck, travelling at what speed.

You mention that the engine is off. So is the car stationary and the perceived motion are "post processed" ?

Rig shot means its planned shot?

yeah 30 secs and that sharp is impossible when the car is moving, some set up?

John Tan,
It's in front of Marina Square taxi stand...
On friday afternoon, it's a free spot, don't need ticket one, they didn't cover with black cloth but need to shoot behind 2 metal fences..
Dunno at the actual day though...

Here's my share:
