I'm fairly sure they're all made in Japan.

Though my G1 cost more, it's made in china :(

There will always be rumours and this is no exception. After LX4 will be LX5 and so on, there's no ending.

agree. if one has a need now, should buy otherwise will miss the photo opportunities. if no urgency, can wait for lx4, lx5....lx infinity...there is no end to waiting as there is always something new down the road.:bsmilie:

Even though future models maybe be renamed as something else to replace "LX", it's still a never-ending thing.

The bottomline is that if u need it just get it cos even though u wait for the next latest model, soon it'll be obsolete and replaced by yet another model. This is the norm for a product's life cycle.

So as for now, LX4 is still unofficial so might as well settle for LX3 which i did too and very happy with it. :)

Hi there.

I'm a newbie here & looking for a Lumix camera to shoot food, animals, people, scenery - both indoors & outdoors, bright light & low light. For leisure, keepsake & posting onto blog.

Reason for choosing Lumix is 'cos those who have it seem to all rave about it, those who don't have it also say it's good & its reviews are also pretty excellent. I personally like the LX3's retro look.

I think TZ7 may be adequate for my photography needs but in the event that I get more serious about photography - which is pretty likely & since LX3 & TZ7's price don't differ too much I think - is it a good idea to invest in the LX3 now? Is it convenient to bring around? Will it be too complex for a newbie like me? How is the HD video recording compared to other Lumix-es? From your experience, would this be a recommended camera for a newbie who may get serious?

Thanks a lot in advance :D

After reading your post, i think you should go for the LX3 straight away. No point in getting the TZ7 and then the LX3. You can't go wrong with the LX3, it has a very good lense, it's small, compact and produces great image quality in its class! It has scenes modes and the standard P,S,A, and manual, so you can learn through the different modes and auto settings (white balance, iso) as a newbie and when more comfortable go to full manual mode if you want!

If you don't need extra accessories, you can get it at SLR Revolution for $664, this includes 8gb class 4 or 6 SD card. screen protector is $2 more.

This evening checked with Lords....quoted me @ $690/= include only the case and 8gb SD card....

Also i ask, I want to buy the wide conv and he say you cant use the wide conv it cannot mount on the LX3. You have to buy the panasonic ring and currently out of stock.....

What is the panasonic ring he referring to?

What he meant is the conversion lens adapter.
