Best Camera phone?

Hi all.

For a long time I was searching for a good camera phone. The best one I found is the Galaxy "S4 Zoom" - because that looks like a real compact camera that can also make phone calls.
Now there is the Nokia 1020 with a 41 mega-pixel camera - but only has a digital/crop zoom.
Or just a normal phone like a Galaxy S4 - then I can add a macro lens like this one: 3 in 1 Clip Camera Lens Kit 180 Degree Fisheye Lens Super Wide Lens And Macro Lens for iPhone 5/iPad Mini/Samsung Galaxy S4/Galaxy Note 2 etc (Black) - iProduct Other Gadgets - TRAIT TECH - Wholesale CellPhone Cases - China Wholesale - Dropship From

What will you recommend if I care about long reach zoom, macro (bug eye shots), and low-light photos?

thanks!
I already have some good cameras from compact to DSLR, but I can't take those with me all the time.

For all those, I would say do not use a camera phone. Wrong tool for the job.

Of course a camera phone won't work as well.
But too often I find a shot I'm not prepared for and I don't want to carry a good camera with me all the time.
Hear the phrase "The best camera is the one you use most often"?

Anyway,
Let me rephrase this:
"Which phone will SUCK THE LEAST if I care about zoom, macro, and low-light?"

How about the Samsung galaxy camera?

When I first saw the Galaxy camera, I remember thinking how awesome it was.
Later I discovered it's a camera with a fully functional Android OS, but can't make phone calls. Strange it can even do Skype video calling using the GSM network, but can't make a simple phone call.

It seems the Galaxy S4 Zoom is the closest thing I can find to a real camera that can also do phone calls - as well as normal Android stuff like web-surfing, Google Maps, and Angry Birds.

I vote for Nokia Lumia 920. I have used my bro and dad's Nokia Lumia 900, and it is fabulous... the 920 shared the same camera module as the 900 and with updated body + window firmware. It is an excellent phone + camera. As and when my Samsung Note decided to die, I will change to a 920, no question asked.

Oic. I thought of getting it. How about whatsapp and sms? Can the phone support?

s4 zoom export set is $700++

@rhino
Surprised you didn't want the Lumina 1020. But that's not a real phone yet - it's just been announced. I guess the 1020 will be for sale in a month or two.

@trd
The Galaxy S4 Zoom is a fully functional phone.

@Hinata
What is an export set? When you think the S4 Zoom can be available normally @ Starhub, Singtel, etc ?

Thanks for the posts!

Nah. Lumia 1020 with its 41MP cam... I have my doubt. I will try to pyscho my buddy to get it once it was out and play with it for awhile (:devil:) then decide. But at the present moment, I am more or less set on the Lumia 920 or its successor (depending on when my Note would die).

Actually I was asking about the Galaxy camera, whether it has whatsapp and sms functions despite not having phone function.

The Galaxy camera can not make phone calls and can't use whatsapp.
After some basic Google searching, It can SMS and there is a work-around to get whatsapp running:

Any more votes for the best camera phone?

Judging by the size alone of the S4 zoom, you could get the S4 and still pack a slim compact camera into your pocket.

But oh well.

The S4 is 7.9 mm thick and the S4 Zoom is 15.4 mm thick. So, to get a S4 AND a slim compact camera, the camera must be no more than 7.5mm to equal a S4 Zoom. I found some very slim compact cameras. But nothing with a 10x optical zoom in that range. Anyone know of a camera that size? If I find one, then I can end up with a much faster S4 and a dedicated camera. Expensive but the best of both.

export set means no warranty. not usre if the 3 telcos will bring in when..
but..u can see..pple are selling off their galaxy camera already..this means something..or maybe that really sucks...

so far..export set..im using samsung note..pass the 1 year mark..no problem...aint warranty for local sets is 1 year?

be the first ahead and use the device.

I really hope this doesn't suck and the S4 Zoom is "better" than the Galaxy Camera. I can wait 1-2 months for a good camera-phone. I think the export set will work fine (I got my 550D camera a similar way), but I'll rather get the phone "correctly" and get 4G-LTE speeds, warranty, I need to renew my telco service anyway, etc.
If after 2 months and still nothing, then I need to re-think using a export set.
If the Zoom sucks, then I need to re-think my priorities a LOT.

you really took that literally. *face palm* moment.

there are so many compacts out there that can pack a 10x zoom into that small frame and it still won't seem like you're taking too much out with you.

Ok great.
Please give me some examples. Anything less than 10mm with 10x optical zoom will be excellent. The only problem is I will still need to make normal phone calls on some other slim device.

I use the Asus Padfone 2 it's 13mp (F2.4)camera takes good photos.
For me if I were you, I would just take any decent phone.
Get a Canon EOS 100D and tuck into my bag since it's rather small.
If I need better image quality, I just take out my EOS 100D and snap.
I don't like lugging a bulky DSLR especially for day to day shoots

if u recontract..do some homework before u recon..check with shops like mobilesquare etc how much they take in ur brand new phones. DO NOT OPEN THE SET..its $50 less if opened. there...u get $ back by selling the phone u dun need.

always works for me.
