Best APS-C Lens?

If you pixel-peep, make large prints, or do agressive cropping, get the CZ1680. It really has no competition for wide-open / edge sharpness. I used to have the Tamron 17-50. but after suffering the effects of it's non-flat field of focus, I sold it in dismay. Found it useless for wide-open night photography. the 18-250 is a fun lens, but it's too contrasty... you'll find that you lose alot of hightlight and shadow detail, especially when compared to the CZ.

Once you've tasted the CZ, most other lenses will disappoint. The only issue is that it TENDS to suffer back-focussing on some bodies, but a recalibration by Sony SC will fix it for good.

Best APS-C lens? 16-80CZ hands down. :)

from wide angle shots like this:

to even cropped in macro shots like this:

and not forgetting the bokeh it could produce:

even butts loved it:

I am facing the same dilemma as well.

I have the budget set aside but i'm considering whether to get a CZ 16-80 or a
tamron 15-50 + a sigma 10-20mm since i have been shooting alot of landscapes and i have a sony 50mm 1.7 to do my portrait and street work most of the time. I am just afraid that the prime 50mm will be wasted if i bought the CZ 16-80mm.

To TS, if you haven't tried the 50mm 1.7, you really should. That prime lens has been stuck onto my camera ever since i bought it and i have no problem using my legs as zoom lens. Image quality is sharp and good as well. That's in my opinion at least ^^.

So, wide angle lens or cz 16-80..Urgh!

ha yep, I have a Minolta 50mm F1.4 and it was the first lens I bought actually.. I'm very happy with it too.. but sometimes feel quite limited at 50mm. Its extremely good for street photography and perhaps night shots due to the 1.4 aperture, but CZ just seems so attractive for the contrast and range.. heh

Lol yeah. I would say the second hand market in singapore is strong (the CZ in USA here cost about 750 usd and not many people are reselling). I might just buy it for my christmas present when i go back singapore in december lol.

so will your 50mm 1.4 be under utilized after buying the CZ?

That's great, how much can i get that filter at street market?

I bought it in SonyStyle Malaysia and I cant remember how much I paid anymore. It isnt cheap though but if you gonna pay so much for CZ glass, dont put cheap filters on them. B+W super slims cost a lot too and your Zeiss lens cap wont fit them.
