Does anyone know if this is a really rare model?

Bessa II 6X9 Voigtlander has 3 models with 3 different lense
1) Skopar
2) Heliar
3) Apo-lanthar

Apo-lanthar is very rare. Can fetch about USD 1-2K or even more depending on condition.

It's not rare but it's extremely desirable (and pricey) because of the lens. If you're shooting primarily B&W, the older Bessa models with the uncoated Skopar lens are worth considering if not for the lower prices. The coated Skopar lenses are excellent with colour film due to their higher contrast, though both versions are corrected for colour. At smaller apertures, it will be hard to see much of a diff between a Lanthar and a Skopar. The Lanthars and Heliars have a very unique look to their pics at the wider apertures.

FWIW, I had (still have) a nice all black Bessa with a Skopar lens until it was damaged beyond repair by some arse*hole. There are all sorts of idiots out there who think they know better.

These 6x9 Bessas take really good pictures.

Thanks. My dad would be happy to hear that since he has a couple of them.

"since he has a couple of them"...Woah...

Do these Bessa II have 2 Red window at the back cover? And removable metal masking plate for 6 x 4.5 at the film holder?

There also a viewfinder scope accessory which can be attach to the camera.

Yes he did mention that he had special viewer and mask to increase the number of shots ... I'll get him to take some test shots one of these days to see how the lens are doing...

The viewfinder scope is call the "Kontursucher" included lightframes for 6x9 and 4,5x6cm and parallax compensation lines for closed ups.

Taking at 6x9 will give you 8 frames, with the mask at 4.5X6 will be 16 frames.

Enjoy your shooting.
