Benro vs Sirui

Benro gives a ball head that is those quick release type.. only 1 plate to play with

Huh!? Aside from leg and ballhead i still have to buy separate plates?
There should default plates for both rite? I can only base the comparison with default plate, but i do will take note of the flexibility of plate on sirui ballhead

both comes with default plates.

but u can change them in future on a Sirui, not Benro.

For these 'cheaper' ballheads there is usually a default plate.But if you get those 'more expensive'(Markins/Wimberly/RRS etc...) you gotta get your own mounting plates as its not included

What's the difference between what ur saying and the default one?
Default one can easily put on and off?
Anyway 'll stick to the default first, since Am going to get it no matter what. Meaning im leaning now on Sirui since I'll have an option.

Different plates have different uses. Let me explain to you further.

Body Plates. Bodies like Canon 5D, 7D have a custom mounting plate, thus the design fits in which give the whole look to be rigid and stable.

Long Plates. These long plates, are usually meant for macro photography, or sports photography. Macro is that u can move the plate further , without moving your tripod which I feel it's essential. Sports photography use this plates too as they do carry long and heavy lenses which might be good for them to balance out.

The default plate is a normal plate. Fits in any bodies or lens tripod collar.

I'm also still using the Default plate which comes along.

However, next week, I'd be going over to TK, to change my plate and plate holder. Problem is I prefer quick release levers than acra Swiss design holders. Benro don't have a solid looking for this so I intend to get a Manfrotto holder which the feel is much more solid and rigid, cost me $50.

I would suggest you get the T-1004x with the G10 ballhead.

T-1005x is a little less stable than the T-1004x, which is amazingly stable.

Also for the T-1004x/1005x, the G20 is a little too large for the tripod. G10 is perfect. And for your stuff G10 is good enough.

Went to look/test the Benro CF tripod, then went TK to look/test the Sirui.
The Sirui has much better finishing so I got a R2204 with G20.

My vote goes to Sirui !

I may pick up another Sirui later, maybe a T1004 for travelling, chuck about, wacking pple, etc :bsmilie:

But mind you benro A550 stock ball head is the normal quick release type instead of those acra Swiss compaitable.

What I'm talking here is price to price comparison.

Sirui T1005 and the " acra Swiss" compaitable head is at $180 with 6 yrs warranty instead of Benro which is only 1 year.

The ball heads you posted above the picture, I guess u need to top up around $100-120 for this.

Yup... the entry level benro heads come with quick release:

Not to say quick release is not good. But arca swisss style do open up a lot of options. But so far, I am satisfied with my manfrotto rc2 plates and releases.

I used a Manfrotto 488 RC4 before.

It feel solid.

But problem with Benro is that the ball head cant lock its pan, and tilt. It only have one knob for all around adjusting.

ACtually, that is the standard design for a simple ball head. If you want to lock down pan and tilt separately, you will need a ballhead with pan feature (like the 488). You get more control but at the cost of weight.

I only use a pan/ball head (488 rc2) on my local setup. On my travel tripod, I use my standard ball head.
