Beginners Outing(Part 22)-Jurong East/Chinese Garden on the 14 August(Photos thread)

Wonderful symetry! I love it!

Thanks Ghaz1. Come to think of it, the cloudless sky at that point in time was also good, but a blue cloudless sky would be a Godsend!!
Cheers.

Everyone's photos look very good,
mine's too normal =.=
I don't know how to post the photo some more..haha

Thanks to cleonbus for the outing,
and thanks to GilbertGoh for the guidance,
I learned something along the way :)

Hi peenguin90,
Don't look at other people's photos and start to degrade yours. You should treat your photos as your masterpieces. Some pictures may look lousy initially but with help from photoshop, especially the cropping tool, they may turn out to be quite beautiful. All professional photographers do PP! It was reported that for every photo that appear in the National Geographic magazine, 5,000 photos are rejected.
Do post a few of your photos here and let the seniors and experienced photographers point out the flaws and mistakes, then you will learn.
Cheers.

NM has a guide on how to post pictures here.Do a search...

Thanks Cleonbus for the outing.
I am trying to learn my composition today.
Seems like MGohzxc & Ongoinglearner's photos are really sharp.
Really nice photos guys.

Here are mine, C&Cs are welcome...:)

Both of these two have potential. Try to enlarge the pictures, too small to view on large screens.

Because you are shooting at the sky, you should lock the exposure on the statue instead of the sky, as it drowns out the details of the statue, or use HDR. Another option is to take 2 different shots, 1 with sky details, another with statue details, and them blend them together in Photoshop.

The second one has no real subject but for composition, it's nearly there.

If you had a wide angle lens, you could include more of the foreground rock.

Also, do read up on Hyperfocal Distance, which you could have employed for this scenario.

Cheers!

Hello Dingaroo,
Thanks for your comments. For this outing, I was using a tele photo lens. Just trying to take some tight shots. Yes, I have try to do hyperfocal with a wide angle lens before but did not get it right yet. It is not easy for me. Still learning. Btw maybe you also can help to comment on my Sunset thread "Lower Pierce sunset by young sun chaser.
Thank you again.,
Cheers.

Oh for that perhaps you would need the help of a polariser. ;)

Hi peenguin90,
Hey, your pictures are not as bad as you make them out to be! Especially # 2, I like the composition.
Few points to share with you after learning in CS:
1. Number your photos so that members can refer to them when doing C&C.
2. Straighten your buildings (taught by DD123). Photo #01 & #03 building and pagoda slightly slant. Photo #02 Pagoda quite slant. Yes, I totally agree that slant buildings and horizons don't look nice in photos.
Cheers - keep shooting and posting. Good to know that you burn midnight oil!!

Peenguin, just be prepared to accept critics and you will be able to push yourself over that barrier. We are learning so nothing to be shy of. I'm learning so I'll accept whatever advise/critics given, it's the way to improve I think.

Hi Veera,
For a while I thought I went into the wrong thread such as macro outing!!:o Ha-ha
#2 Good shot. The head in focus with nice greenish/greyish bokeh background.
#10 Good composition. The lotus leaf shielding the lotus flower. Its a pity the leaf is not fresh green.
Cheers.
