Hmm.. that will sure help, cos it would bring the shutter n aperture balance out.. however, i do suggest you can try to switch to Manual to have a look at your focus pt using bracketing to see if the shutter n apeture of ur choice is well balanced out if not adjust it till it balance then switch back to aperture to see if the shutter n aperture is well balanced out.. dun be afraid to use manual, after all this is a DSLR, nt a pns :)

I will give it a try the next time round.

Hello!

Justin reporting in!

shall post some candids in another reply.

bro, love your shots. wheres the panning lesson shot leh? =p

Just to chap in..even if im not there.

it all depends on your metering mode. Most likely you're on evaluative/matrix then : If there's alot of bright areas within your frame, set your EC to 1-2 stops down and it should be okay. On evaluative/matrix the coverage is pretty large so it takes into most of the frames into account

yap.. I'm using evaluative/matrix. I guess that might be the one causing the overexposure thingy in my photo. I was actually using spot metering before that and I changed it. :embrass:

Always another day to shoot :)

Pretty much okay shots.. Tiong Bahru estate isn't really really old enough for traditional shots.

I guess most of you guys shots are pretty over expose...

Hi all.

..... I wish there was a more concerted effort to test the limits of one's photography skills, instead of walking around and aimlessly snapping each other and uninteresting stuff.
I don't know if anyone learned anything from this outing, but I see lots of overexposure, white balance issues, weird compositions, noisy and soft pictures...

As this is a Land/City-scapes thread, I wish there weren't so many snaps of each other. Seems like at least half the photos were of people...

You will still get the same overexpose picture if you simply recompose. You need to lock the meter reading if you want to do this. Your camera should have a function known as exposure lock or something...

alright noted. Correct me if i'm wrong. By focusing on the bright spot, then re-compose, the pic should be not over-expose right? The same goes for if I focus on dark spot and re-compose, the pic should not be under expose?

No way bro. Your cam has one of the best metering system in use today. Looking at the pictures you took, i was certain the metering wouldn't be fooled by it. Not by that extent of overexposure anyway. So i looked at your exif in the flickr account. You have set your camera's exposure compensation to overexpose by a lot! Please reset that value to 0 otherwise all your shots from here on will be overexposed. Learn the specifics of your camera and i guess, go take more shots to get used to it. ;)

Hi, some of my pics in the outings.
BTW, thanks Iszan for poisoning me a lot of new things ;))

Thanks. Already set back to 0. Guess I need to shoot more to better understand it. Reading is more theory ba.. I think must need practical also than can determine how well I understand those theory.:(
