Skylover can consider third party lenses like tamron or sigma 70-200 f2.8 if price of nikkor 70-300 is around the same price for the third party 70-200..

This one should be quite small mah.Time for you to train up to carry more lenses:)

Tokina 11-16 f2.8
Tokina 16-50 f2.8

Well, I actually wanted to go for the prime 35mm too, but after some consideration with my in-the-back scenes shifu, I decided to go for the 17-55, 17-50, 16-50, 18-50 f2.8s range.

so instead of my previous wishlist setup:
(1) 17-50 f2.8 range
(2) 35mm f2.0
(3) 50mm f1.8
(4) 85mm f1.8

I decided to skip the 35mm, and sell my 50 1.8 and 18-135, so my final setup
(1) Tamron 17-50 f2.8 VC
(2) Canon 85mm f1.8
For UWA, I don't intend to spend additional $$$ to buy a UWA lens, I would buy a UWA converter, 0.45x which means my lens 17-50, at 17 X 0.45..

Zoom lens, I don't intend to buy, I can easily borrow a 70-200 f2.8 IS USM L II from my next door neighbour ya.

At the end of the day, after let's say 2-3 years of shooting, most people who own 5-8 lens will tend to use only 2 lenses most of the time.

Every shoot, will you carry total 8 lenses ? I guess not. Unless you are a professional shooter.

So, I guess a zoom with constant aperture 2.8 and a prime 1.8 will be fine.

I'm happy with my kit lens actually.. Zoom lens not necessary cause if really need to use I will juz rent.

will consider Tokina 11-16 f2.8 instead of 12-24 or 10-24 depend how it goes.
35mm on D90 is about 45 - 50mm on a crop lens.. but most likely i will go for 35mm f1.8 than f1.4 due to the pricing than juz 1/4 f stop. not worth it.

Actually I wan to really test out different between 35 and 85mm.. wonder which is better for Portraits.

If i'm not wrong...

35 for full body shots

50 for half body shots

85 for face shots

Or maybe get a 17-50 2.8 like what OB is doing?

duno leh.. I need to test lens den can decide.. i got a lot of lens in my list wan to try not buy..

1 portrait lens is enough already..

however, a 35mm prime and a 85mm prime is a good combination.

Yes, in fact I feel that a 17-50 2.8 and a 85mm 1.8 is a very very good combination. for street use 17-50 part 1, then switch over 85mm prime, shoot part 2..

hmm.. bt 85 on a crop lens is like 125mm.. like tt shoot half body will haf to move quite a distance away..

thats cos, if u have a 17-50, u have already cover 28mm 35mm 50mm.. 85mm is an additional add on.

However, whereas canon or nikkor, the 85mm prime is definitely an ultra sharp lens.
