Hi,

To all Minoltians, especially the pros/freelancers,

I need a little help in getting someone who is able to teach a beginner/intermediate photography course for my school photographers. They are in dire need of some instruction. I am afraid I am not qualified to teach as I am not good enough still. (I can assist though...:D)

I am asking for your help if u can do it yourself or know someone willing to conduct a short course for a nominal fee. Our photography club's budget is miniscule - basically $500 a year to cover all costs (like film and developing), so we are really unable to afford the formal courses that are being conducted.

I hope to have 2 sessions. It's more like a photography clinic. 1 session for a lecture, familiarization, + outdoors shooting session for hands-on experience and then 1 for analysis and maybe a reshoot on that same day.

I know I'm asking for a lot but please help if u can! Thanks a lot!!!

Rreally appreciate your reading this!

Just a suggestion... you might get a better chance if you post this in the general forum instead, unless of course, you need someone who knows how to use Minolta cameras.

TME, with $500 budget, likely the instructor have to do it for free :D

Still, good luck! hope you manage to find one :)

this reminds me of the workshop I attended, where John Cosgrove was sharing how he picked up and ended up being a professional photographer..... He was thrown a camera, given a crash course and made a living as a photographer in the Army.

What school are you from TME? Are you a fellow student or a teaching staff?

Thanks! I dun want to cross post, so I'll just look around here first. At any rate, the things that need to be taught are mastery of the use of depth of field, shutter speeds, and focussing tips as well as composition. These are all principles of photography which are independent of the camera u use. So it does not matter whether or not my students use Canon or Nikon and not Minolta.

Look for your HOD Aesthetics and ask him or her for the NAC (National Arts Council) courses catalog. Inside is a list of courses that the NAC endorse, and there are a couple of photojournalism courses for students inside. The best thing about these courses is that NAC subsidizes 40% of the course fee.

regards

or you can tap on the resources of YPN

young photographer's network, part of NYAA, which I'm a part of :)

Hi rueyloon,
Is the YPN sg-based? Do they have a website that we can visit?
How about the NYAA?

Cheers,
isis

Thanks,

Thanks! But what I need is a basic course on photography and not photojournalism...... that's a little too advanced since they have basic composition problems......... I think a basic course which tells them what is what is photography will be less intimidating and help them along first..... then maybe can send some of them for the photojournalism course..... :)

You can try to approach SAFRA which does courses for school also. They can customised the course for you depending on what you specified.

The number is 63773682, Try look for Mr Lum or Lawerence. They will advise you on your matter.

Good luck in your search!
