This brings up another thought... have any beetles actually managed to really go in deep? What happens in this case? It's quite scary as during this wet and humid weather now we have a lot of other insects such as flying ants emerging and who knows where they'll go when you're asleep.

according to Discover Channel: Mythbuster program, no insect will penetrate deeper than the eardrum

Goodness... Now that is a scary thought.. But insects can crawl into any orifice of our body.. Think about that..

hmmm.............i thought a better way was to shine a torchlight into the ear? read somewhere that it will quite succesfully attract them out of the ear.

Shucks... will it ever hit the eardrum and cause deafness?

wait scadenly its the wax that attacts the insects ;p

When I was young, I used to play with my dog in its kennel and didn't realised that a flea somehow took residence just outside my ear canal.

My mother only noticed it when it became visible after fattening up on my blood! So make sure that your pets are bug-free before getting too close to them.

dun need, once u get accustomed 2 using earplugs u will hear d alarm wan...

earplugs oni reduce noise, not eliminate them.
if it's used daily 2 sleep, wash them regularly. up 2 u how often...

Saw this thread and it reminds of what an old Biology teacher of mine once said when someone conveyed a similiar story to him in class once.

"When you are asleep, most often then not you have your mouth open for a period of time, I wouldnt worry about your ear, just the thousands of bugs that will crawl down your throat in your life time, it happens to everyone and best of all usually you dont even notice it!"

This kept me sleepless and on guard for many weeks! Once you get to grips with it its ok though!

Have a fantastic nights sleep everyone!
