[ BBBBug ] - When is the EP3 on sale in Singapore?

Just collected my black EP3 with EVF and I must say its totally neat and worth the price (ok, i'm upgrading from an EP1 so u know the huge difference)

anyway, regarding the macro, wide/fisheye attachments, has anyone tried them out? Any reviews?

How much did you pay for the VF2?

With Parisilk, you would only get the best prices if you go down and ask them face to face. They usually sell cheap as they are aiming for volume sales and have kenna complaints from other dealers to the agents when their competitors pretending to be potential buyers got the true selling prices from them over the phone. The manager at HV told me that they would not quote the lowest prices any more over the phone nowadays because of this.

In any case, to become a regular fast, it is best to deal directly. After a couple of times, they would recognise you as a regular and you would automatically get the best deals without too much haggling. ;)

I agree. From what I am seeing, the difference is like... $50 bux max (or the value of freebies) between outlets. That's not enough to make me lose sleep.

Far better to have someone reliable you can trust and go back to again and again.

Just came out from CP.
They left with white.
Price not that attractive, compare to the rest.

Their salemen need the commissions to pay off the installment of the rolexes.

Agreed. Unless the difference is more than $100, if not I will go to MSColor which is just opposite my house...save the hassle of driving, ERP, parking, petrol etc and then just to save that few dollars....:dunno:

jus bought a p-3 for my wife from mustafa...manage to change class 4 card to class 10 but no tripod/extra batt/extra card....

What type of battery did it come along with?
Tot ep3 using BLS-5?

Anyone using the converters? The one with macro, wide angle and fisheye? Any comments?
Thinking of getting it and it would solve the problem of bringing too many lenses when going on a holiday.

I'm a macro guy too. Will be getting one soon. What's the price you're getting?

Finally I got my EP3 after a loooong wait since my E300 kaput 2 years ago. Was tempting to get the EP1/EP2. I persevere until I find EP3 is the one worth waiting for.

SLR Revolution is selling the twin lenses kit at $1391 (cash) / $1421 (visa).
Still the cheapest in town area.

Hey guys, just a quick update. Like I've mentioned earlier on, I reserved a SLK in Silver from SLR Revo and went to collect it ytd night.
Agree that it is the cheapest in the town area right now.

Being a John 3:16 hard core fan, I again decided to head there before SLR Revo because I would much prefer their after sales service which IMO is excellent. John 3:16 seems more keen in building friendships and relationships although it might come across to some as a marketing tactic?
Anyways, John 3:16 quoted me $1220 despite me insisting that SLR Revo quoted me only $1167. It was a whopping $53 difference and after a long discussion and a whole lot of bargaining, Sam(the boss), suggested that maybe I should just get it from SLR since there is no way that he's able to match up to this price.

I rushed 1 level down to SLR Revo right before closing and managed to collect my set. Now the story starts here.
The salesman whom i made my reservation over the phone with is Valent. I told him I wanted silver and he said its in stock and told me he'll keep it for me. Yesterday, before making my way down, I called again and it was a lady who picked up the phone and she assured me it was the silver that they're holding on my behalf. I later enquired about the 17mm pancake lens and she passed the phone over to Valent to update me the price of the lens and again, Valent assured me it was the silver one that im getting.
So in total I was assured thrice its the silver that I will be getting. However, when i went to collect it, he took out the set and it was the white one!
I told him I requested for the silver one but he answered politely that i did not mention anything over the phone about the color. But, he did assure me that when the new stock comes in, he will still be charging me $1167 for the silver. Disappointed, I too politely told him I will wait 2 weeks for the silver but I was actually feeling rather cheated. I'm not sure if it was really a miscommunication or a marketing gimmick that SLR Revo employs to attract customers to their shop. Get them to come, leave them with no choice and sell the white one.

As a result I went back to John 3:16, paid $1210 and went home happily with the silver EP3.
And like some of you have said, if the difference is less than $100, its not enough to make me have sleepless nights.
Well, afterall John 3:16 gave me quite a good deal in terms of service and the post sales service he offered was rather attractive as well.
But for those who don't mind the white one, go ahead and get it at SLR Revo since its $53 cheaper and its only 1 level below John 3:16.

Hope this helps those who's still deciding where to get their cams =)

So you have reserved another silver set from SLR Revolution as well after buying one from John 3:16?

I assume that you are referring to those 3rd party converters that attach to the front of the lens?
I believe kiwitan was referring to the original converters from Olympus designed for use with m43 lenses. They are:
MCON-P01 Macro converter
WCON-P01 Wide angle converter
FCON-P01 Fisheye converter

Only the macro converter could be used with more than 1 of the m43 lenses ie 14-42mm, 14-150mm and 40-150mm.
The fisheye and wide angle converter can be used with the 14-42mm kit lens only.

They all attach to the zoom barrel of the lens and not the filter thread of the front lens element unlike many 3rd party converters and are therefore not so stressful to the lens focusing mechanism.

So you have reserved another silver set from SLR Revolution as well after buying one from John 3:16?

Update: They just called me regarding the SLK. They told me they only have the TLK for the silver one and again I told them I will wait. Well, I guess I'll just pass that to my friend since she wants the silver SLK and don't mind waiting. Anyway anyone has recommendations on where to get a cheap panny 20mm?John 3:16 is selling at $560.

I'm curious on this observation.

For discussion sake, I'd downloaded the ORF file of E-P3 and E-PL2 from dpreview.com and exported to JPEG (High Quality) with v1.2 of Olympus Viewer 2. Nothing is adjusted. Full EXIF intact. Here's the result:

E-P3

E-PL2

Is E-P3 image still on the warmer side? Are both E-P3 and E-PL2 image quality still as terrible?

I think it boils down to a personal taste (remember the days of film and the reason why some chooses Kodak or Fuji?)

I like the slight warmth of the E-P3, the contrast render of E-PL2.

The E-PL2, though more "accurate", seems too cool to my preference.

hmmmm next time try to deal with hanwei or ray for SLR rev, not too sure about the services of Valent as i have never dealt with him b4.

when the single lens kit came in stock, i received a call from ray to give my color preference, which i initially said silver.

when I went down in the evening, they allowed me to choose from the 2 sets of single lens kit they had, which was silver and white, and in the end I chose white as it looked much better in real life (although less retro looking), and the silver body was just a magnet for fingerprints.

There was definitely a silver single kit lens set when i left SLR Rev on wednesday, not sure what happened b4 your collection.

The silver TLK is actually a very good buy. For a bit more than $200, you get the silver 40-150mm telezoom lens. This lens costs >$400 if bought on its own. The new silver one looks metallic and very much better than the black one (both the new and old version) and could be sold off for >$200 if the user really has no use for it. ;)

Seems that the slight warmness of the EP3 could be reduced by turning it off in the Setup Menu G under 'WB Auto - Keep Warm Color'.
