Just got a white one yesterday cos 1 step slower than the one before me and the silver one is gone.

I think white looks better, more vibrant..silver kinda dull though.....

i am not worried about the AF speed, it is all secondary.
rather it is the optical quality (sharpness, resolution, render the right color) that is a bit let down.

i am not sure about you, but i find andrewine works with the kit lens very acceptable.

Not sure on the EP3 but EPL1 can do it.

Cathay Photo quotes me at $1240 for the SLK.

Made a call to tkfoto, msc, slr revo. Slr no stocks yet, so no price.
Tk 1199 for ep3 SLK, 1425 for TLK
Msc 1190 for SLK, 1450 for TLK, 12mm is 1099. Ep3 prices include 8gb card.
All prices include gst.

I have to say, the white looks simply awesome in photos. I was all set on getting it, but then in real life it looked a bit too much like a toy. The colour is a bit *too* vibrant. Also, the display set at the Olympus showroom had some chipped paint already. Didn't bode well for me.

On the other hand the silver looked ordinary, but really started to grow on me. It has the whole antique-classic thing going. It's also not a typical shade of silver. The Olympus dude called it "Champagne Gold" to describe its tinge.

Black was very different- the silver accent lines are very modern and sleek. But unfortunately that goes against the whole old-school design aesthetic of this camera. Plus, I want to be 'ignored' as a PnS guy, not put subjects on alert with a black-and-bad-DSLR.

Just went to try & feel the E-P3.

Personal views:
The silver is a finger print magnet & it looks dull, no doubt is retro looking

Whereas white looks the sharpest & caught my attention.

Black on the other hand feel plastic & not solid.

I have both lenses too and I actually find the version II lens to be fast focussing, quiet and sharp on the E-PL2.

hi tomcat, Noted with thanks. May be I am too fussy.
Had been using only HG Zuiko lens in 4/3. When I fully switched to m4/3, I really miss the HG zuiko quality.

Try mounted 12-60mm with adapter with EP series cam , but the focusing is 2 sec. and 14-42 basically not up to my “normal” acceptance level, I must confess that I am expecting 14-42mm to be closed to 14-54mm or 12-60mm which I know I should not.

Oly always seems quiet about free gifts. I remember when I bought E-P2, they are actually giving out free 2nd batt, collect from service center. But I didn't see it anywhere except here in CS.

I collected from Oly earlier today. Salesman at Cathay told me.

The Oly guy mentioned during the preview on Sat. I believe he told all the distributors, but the distributors probably have uneven dissemination of that knowledge to everyone in the shop.

I was the first to MSC, and also the first to redeem. When I went to the Olympus Showroom the guys there weren't even sure what I was talking about. Ha. But it was quick and easy, just show recipe and warranty and they'll chop 'redeemed'.

Seems like u just go to osc and they will redeem for u, unless they have a way o identify 200 ppl.
