You folks know of any reputable shops which have reasonable prices? Am looking for such shops that have the Sanyo 2300 mAh rechargeable NiMH AA batteries and also the RipVan100 Lightning Pack 4000N. BTW I don't mean the CHG2000PDSC Quick Smart Charger which is supposedly the OEM version. I mean the genuine RipVan100 Lightning Pack 4000N. Thanks for the heads up!

Can try EastGear located at the 2nd level of Peninsular Plaza.

They have Sanyo battery but not the RipVan charger. Theirs is NOT genuine RipVan100 Lightning Pack 4000N. I want the genuine one. Anyone seen it at any shops?

the OEM version should be similar. but if you insist on the original version, you can order from their website, I don't think they have a distributor in Sg.

Problem is its not even the OEM version. They claim its made by RipVan. I confirmed with RipVan & they said they didn't make it & don't make OEMs. So I dunno where they got their fako from. Anyway, I'll probably order from US then.

Hi
Anyone know how much these cost and where's the cheapest place to buy these batteries?
Thanks

dude, ripvan is just a brand name. those fellas probably spotted the charger being made in taiwan, paid them money to print their label on it, and get it shipped to the US. OEM means products from the factory itself, not from the brand.

Just curious but how do you know RipVan didn't make it themselves just like how MAHA makes their own chargers?

Hi Wheek,

We know the owner of RipVan100 personally (btw he gets his Sanyo stock from us). Believe it or not, the Lightning Pack 4000N from RipVan100 is exactly the same product as our EastGear 100 Minute Quick Smart Charger. Hence EastGeaer 100 Minute Quick Smart Charger can be known as the OEM of the 4000N.

For your info, the manufacturer of the "fako" is Hubgiant Co. Ltd www.hubgiant.com. RipVan100 just buys the product from Hubgiant and rebrands them. You can check that out.

EastGear Pte Ltd is the sole distributor of Hubgiant products in Singapore.

If I were you, I would be careful about the "NOT genuine" & "fako" statements. We don't want anybody here to get into trouble. ;)

Thank and regards,

Daniel Chin

hi wheek,

just to add some of my thoughts. do u know that there are factories, whether in electronics or otherwise, often manufacture the same products for different companies? they will use identical products, but package them under the different brandnames.

OEM = Original Equipment Manufacturer, so it's the manufacturer that counts!!! so in this case, ripvan is indeed a brandname only as they don't make the products on their own.

BTW, we wish to clarify that Wheek's statement

is totally and factually erroneous. We quote from our CHG2000PDSC webpage www.eastgear.com/ripvan100 (which was the same since the day we launch this product)

This charger is the OEM version of the award winning RipVan100 Lightning Pack 4000N

It is exactly the same charger as it is made by the same manufacturer of RipVan100 Lightning Pack 4000N

We did NOT claim that the CHG20000PDSC charger was made by RipVan100. We state that the charger was "made by the same manufacturer of RipVan100 Lightning Pack 4000N" which we have indicted earlier was Hubgiant Co. Ltd.

As everyone can see from the text, we have never misled the consumer as alleged.

My apologies. Must've read too deeply into it.

it's best to watch what you say when when you are making comments about commercial organisations. one wrong move could land you in hot soup and a possible expensive lawsuit, though i'm sure east gear is more magmanimous than that.

I own 4 of the EastGear's 100 Minute Quick Smart Charger, and none have failed me so far. In fact the charge my 2100's fully in less then 100 min.

The same case when u buy Kodak/Energizer/Sony battries they are made by either "Sanyo" or "GP" thus they are the "OEM" and the brands above just paste a nice sticker on it to package it as part of thier product line.
