Hi guys

Recently i just found 2 Yashica GX given to me years ago in my room. After checking out the camera and wanting to test them out i realised the battery that is needed has discontinued.

After searching around the net i found this page with a solution to it. Have anyone try it out? Does it work?

i have a GX too, mine using LR44 battery wrapped with cable's outer skin (the rubbery insulation thing) and put a small metal nut (on the negative pole) from hardware store. I think rubber band can be used to wrap the battery as well, the idea is just to make it thicker so will fit the battery chamber perfectly. Hope this helps

I have a Yashica Electro GS, batteries should be the same.

What I did instead of stuffing rubber, cupboard or tubes around the batteries would be to use 1xCR123 with 1xLR44 , works fine.

You can tape them with scotch tape if you want to but it really isnt necessary.

Hi Bro...

 Dose it apply to all Yashica Electro 35mm models?

How much will both cell cost?

Thanks in advance :)

Erm, not sure if it applies but I think it should be the same since all of them use the same mercury batteries?

CR123 cost about $2-3 per cell, LR44/SR44 cost about $1-2 per cell

 Wow... you are fast!

Thanks a lot for your reply.

I just tried Karen's simple method and it works. Just roll small piece of aluminium foil and stuff into the access space between the batt and the contact point and voila! :D

I might wrap both batt and aluminium at the circumference to stop it from a liitle wobbly though.

i use a 4LR44 instead, 6v, a bit smaller than the original size but no need wrapping or anything, just use a spring.

Wow...

Thanks for sharing guys!

Here is my solution with 4LR44 using some paper, adhesive tape and a small piece of old electrical wire, quite useful when you can not find a spring
1. scrolling the paper with the wire inside, the length of the scroll is 18mm and the diameter is the same as 4LR44, stick it up with the adhesive tape

2. put the scroll of paper and the battery together and use another piece of paper with about 50mm width to scroll them up, adjust the length of the scroll to make it fit with the battery compartment

3. Assemble all together and put it in the the battery compartment, then press the battery check button to enjoy the result!

Please note that the parameter above is for Yashica GSN, maybe different for other models

Creative!

Thanks for Sharing

My GX does use different batteries; they use button batteries and it is laid side-by-side in the batt compartment.

That said that looks like a very creative way to use a batt! :D Thanks for sharing!

I use a Zinc air 1.4 volt battery with a tin foil spacer on each side of the battery compartment to fill the gap. The Electro35 series Use a different battery then the GX. In those cameras I use 675 batteries in a card tube with a tin foil spacer .
