Hi all,

A number of queries/issues noted since I last posted, so please let me deal with them. I'll watch this thread and make posts as an when queries come up.

1. Battery/Charger
They're not in the list so buyer will have to acquire them separately.

2. D1H or D1X

3. Why are SPH staff not buying on COD basis?
The sale is open to staff on the same terms as for others, ie, batch sale. Whether any staff turns up to make a bid remains to be seen.

4. Price/Condition/Value
This sale has generated quite a bit of excitement. While I don't want to dampen enthusiasm (and work against the company) I think it is only fair, since CS does not comprise commercial vendors but more hobbyists, that I stress again the importance of viewing what's on offer before getting excited. A lot will rest on the rep who's coming to view/bid (Nightwolf75, yes?) to assess the value of the items and make an offer. Do come on Tuesday so that there's time for the group to discuss after viewing. Bid can come in on Wednesday.


Let me restate and expand on what I said in my original post. The equipment was previously issued to SPH photographers. These people use the equipment daily unlike many of us hobbyists. So do consider 4-5 years of daily use. There is likely to be a range in the kind of condition that they are in, and my subjective evaluation is that they range from 1-5 in CS terms(they've "travelled the globe"). I'm told most are in working condition but a few are spoilt. People who want spare bodies or just spare parts may be interested in them.

I had a look at the lenses today. They all have fungus on them. I'm not discouraging; just stating what Nightwolf75 will find out anyway. The cameras, I can't check because there are no batteries. But some looked newish, others quite battered.

Hope all this helps the CS group that's planning to make a bid have a fruitful discussion (Thurs night?)
