Bali Photography Tour 9-13 Sep '10

Like SereneXMM said, everything dark dark one...that's how most of my photos appear to be...let me go straight to Unda Dam....

The intention was to photograph these boys jumping into the water...

And jump they did....

and this....

notice his fingers ? His expression seems to suggest he was enjoying it but his finger gestures said otherwise

But I think this one really enjoyed it....believing he is a bird

also saw this father washing his daughter's hair....

plus this man bathing by the river who was almost completely naked...although I thought he has something a little translucent but you all know how these things get really transparent when they become wet...so I thought it is best to have it censored

Wooaah... your shots are darn sharp and accurate, attesting to the perfection of the Alpha system!
Of course, attesting to the photographer's skill.
As for the middle finger - you seem to get all the luck of the middle finger... how come I don't ever get that huh? Hahaha...

Finally, this girl who happened to be just right infront of me.....

A portrait of her also happened to be my first self-portrait...as Adrian's sharp eyes pointed to me that I am reflected in her eyes

Unda River Dam

Good. Finally we are at the Unda River Dam!
You see, Ladies and Gentlmen.
When we first signed up for this trip, we all saw the beautiful shots Adrian took at Unda River.
But what we didn't know was, we had to be one third submerged in water to take that shot.
Well, now we know how it feels like.
Ahem... at the expense of one of our member who decided that the water was too tempting not to take a shower in it...
Anyway, as Adrian says - no Guts no Glory, no Pain no Gain... he always say like that one lah...

T R A V E L O G U E

Day 2: From Unda River Dam to Batu Bulan for the Kecak Dance Performance

This day has been one long day. No question about it.
Woke up at 4am. Set off at 5am.
Went soaking in the Kusamba sea with waves higher than a man,
after which we were immersed in the tranquility of the Hall of Justice at Gerta Gosa.
Later we found ourselves basked in scorching hot sun light, up at the Flower Terrace,
only to be drenched later by heavy rain at the grounds of Besakih.
But not before we did a full up and down of the big temple complex.
Finally we ended up thigh-deep (and for some lucky ones, chest-deep) in Unda River waters.

Wah lau. What a day. What a long tiring day.
Even until today I could hear SereneXMM's KBKB-ing in my poor ears. :bsmilie:

Final destination for the day - Kecak Dance at Batu Bulan.

Reached the Chandra Budaya Open Stage where the Kecak Dance would be performed.
From what Adrian told us, this one here is of a better standard than the more touristy one held at Uluwatu.
But wherever it is being held, a Kecak Dance will forever be a Kecak Dance - technically challenging to shoot.
It is dark, with only very little ambient lighting from candles and fire.
Some spot lighting are available. But that does not make things better.
Let's see how it goes.

Here is a piece of grass land just beside the stage with mounts of grass. It looked interesting. That is why I took a shot of it for us to remember how it looked like.

We all quite funny and kiasu because we were the first to arrive at Kecak Dance. If not, when the whole place is full it is very hard to get good front seats to take pictures. This is my record shot of the stage before sunset. I shoot from one side, that is why got a little slanted.
