just wanna seek some advice from the 'experts':

what's a good inconspicuous yet sturdy, almost weatherproof, easy access camera bag for a simple rangefinder system?

I am no expert.

But,

Billingham.

I second the Billingham ...

In particular, I use the L2 model (Alice). Small and compact, I could house two Leica M in here with their lenses attached (like one 50mm and one 90mm), plus film, etc. and still remain light.

I read about someone comparing it to the Billingham Combination Bag for Leica M, which has the same size as L2. L2 was found to have slightly better access at the top.

Anything bigger would seem counter to the rangefinder's reputation for compactness. This should be inconspicuous, especially in black. But some photographers will probably recognize it.

get your fiendly neighborhood NTUC pastic bag... good and free.. no one will know u carry a rangefinder in there

Depends on how big is a 'simple system'... Personally, for a 1-body (3 lenses) I use a Lowepro Film Organizer; 2-bodies (2-3 lenses): Billingham for Leica; 3-bodies (3-5 lenses): Lowepro Orion - this bag is half- camera/daily-pack, which is really good for travelling

ehem . . . .

Some years ago, while travelling in Canada (Toronto, mostly) I used a baby's diaper bag (we had a 14 month old at the time) to keep my cameras handy (Pentax ES, SPII & 4 or so lenses) and used my camera bag for extra film, papers, "junk" & lunches. Guess which one got stolen . . .

That's a good one... :) Those baby diaper bags and bottle warmer normally has pretty good protection.

I use the Billingham Hardley Pro, black. It is inconspicuous to most people as it doesn't look like a camera bag. After aging for a few years, it looks even better. Actually, most of the time, the internal padding is taken out and used as an everyday bag. It is very durable.

Waterproof, no doubt about that.

I will recommend Billingham bag for rangefinder system. Other 'modern' bags are too modern and funky for the rangefinder system.
Personally I am using Billingham Harley Small bag for my M6, Panasonic DMC-FX07 and Contax T3.

I use lowepro APEX 120 to hold one body+2 lenses. Maybe too modern for a F system, but I trust its AW design.

Thanks for the link. Their half-case is nice, as it covers more than Luigi's half cases i.e. the top part behind, although there are more finish options with Luigi's, and his economic version which I use are slightly cheaper, but still with the same soft leather.

But what caught my eye is the Artisan and Artist case for the Hasselblad A12 :)

These are my favs: http://www.artisanandartist.com/bags/index.htm
Any and all of them. :)

club,
my favs are A&A's ImageSmith and the hassy wrap.
i might also consider ordering the half case and strap in deep brown when my pockets have recovered a little from this weekend's spending spree. ;)
cheers, B
