for ppl choosingt Yonex rackets:

chart6.gif

The top of the y-axis reads as " smash/attacking style" and the bottom of that axis reads as " receive/defensive style". On the x-axis the far right reads as " singles-orientated " and the far left side as " doubles-orientated "

The above info is taken from http://www.badmintoncentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=4389

thanks. when i first learnt to play, Carbonex was the best and i haven't kept up on Yonex marketing, umm technology....

Do you know what happened to the Carbonex line, eg: Carbonex 8, 9 , 10 (the classics :) ), what are they replaced by?

Another thing - shoes - for casual players, any recommendations... how about cross-trainers so can use for other things...?

I find shuttlecocks a high recurring cost. Currently using Yonex AS-30.. $25 for a tube. Anywhere else cheaper or are there cheaper brands/models that are the same standard as these?

Am at beginner level at the moment. For racquet, using Carbonex 10 SP which I like very very much.

Where did you buy AS30 for $25? that's too expensive.
I used to buy AS40 from Bras Basah shop for only $20.

IHMO, the right shoes are important too, used to play with running shoes, but when i switched to cheapo Yonex badminton shoes, can really feel the diff, got more grip, support when running ard the court.......

usually badminton shoes are not too expensive if you are not so particular about the design..heh.... i dun .. coz i dun wear it other than playing badminton...heh

Get a pair of cheap badminton shoes, normal running shoes or cross trainers are not really designed for badminton. They're higher than badminton shoes, and are not really good for the sudden lunge and run when playing badminton. It's also easier to sprain your ankle wearing running shoes/cross trainer, not to mention the lower grip compared with badminton shoes.

Sports link have some Yonex $30 badminton shoe, and maybe better one at $40-50 like this....

Better get a proper shoe I feel..... ;)

Anyone here want to organise a Badminton match???

Canon vs Nikon vs Minolta, etc.......

Oh.. forget to mention, using a running shoe will KILL your running shoe faster than ever too!!!

Too much stop and twist and turn... I killed one pair of running shoe this way.....

Haha, I killed every single pair of my running shoe playing badminton. Usually after each game I'll have to go back and reglue the sole.

wah... reading this thread suddenly sorta rekindle my deep love for the game.
used to play for school (second doubles, but usually bench warmer la hahaha) during my primary and secondary sch years, but haven't touched a racket for 3 to 4 years already since after O lvls, and... ballooned in size

anyone from north side wants to play on the weekends regularly or not? Ang Mo Kio tomato here ;p

those interested in sports photography can bring their equipment along and "train" also :D

when is the upcoming Singapore Open?
