Bad seller ethics on buy&sell

It saddens me more than it has angered that i have (finally) met my first aeroplane pilot today. It will e good that i use this case as a warning to all sellers on clubsnap that such behavior will definitely not be tolerates by many.

Yesterday night i spotted an ad by this guy called 'Oldies' for a backpack. So i responded to agree to the price, and was told to meet him at clementi mrt just 20mins ago.

Being an east-sider this was quite a journey, but i accepted it as i was the buyer and e price was "wow!". Prior to reaching (abt 30mins) i texted him to inform him about my pending arrival, to which he acknowledged that hes already at e station when i called him nearer to my destination.

However upon reaching, my repeated calls were unanswered. Only after a few mins of waiting that i received a simple text saying that 'sorry, just sold' and upon my lecturing, he said 'buy and sell is like that one, first come first serve, hope u understand'

A buy and sell transaction should not be treated like a battle royale! I will not be surprised by how many people goin for the same bag that may respond here with their disgruntled words.

So sellers, please do all your potential buyers a favor, DO NOT COMMIT when you are well damn sure you know u cant.

from Changi all the way to Clementi. what an arse!

I hope that idiot seller will bother to come here to defend or at least explain. No ethics at all.

Donut u kena also?

Well its not like i was unresponsive or anything. In fact i tried to be really courteous and agreed at e first chance. Guess being nice doesnt bode well all the time.

Yea..Too eager to sell.. probably meet up afew people at (the same time +-). Whoever is ok first. Sell..

Yea..seller has no ethics...

sheesh....what's the issue with the seller??

was he scared that he kenna aeroplane buyers, so he went and arrange with a few potential buyers and see which one arrives first with the sum of $$ he wanted for his bag?

he said 'buy and sell is like that one, first come first serve, hope u understand'

he has his own theory and idea of what is BnS, but I have met sellers who were willing to reserve the item for me, and meet for the trade when both of us were able to.
I have also reserved items for potential buyers, and politely informed other potential buyers that the item has been reserved.

TS, have you already committed with seller that you want to buy the bag or you only wanted to take a look at the bag before deciding?

Reason for asking is I have encountered situations where potential buyer wanted to inspect before commiting. Afterwhich, another buyer indicates that he will buy the item. This put the seller in a dilemma to keep the item for the first potential buyer, whom may still back out of the deal , or deal straight with the 2nd person who has already committed to buy.

Usually people will request an inspection before buying, I will tell the next person who offer that it is reserved if there's a viewing arranged. In fact, I will ask all potential buyers to inspect the item first before paying me as I do not want to be responsible once the trade is completed.

So I thinking it is fair to assume that a trade is going to happen if the bag is in good condition. The seller should treat the bag as reserve and not arrange multiple meetings.

As his name already mentioned... He is not an organised person n maybe he is young/immature. I will get a stroke if he is a supervisor or manager.

Thats why... Seller persecptives must be.. If i only meet 1 person..and i've travelled..What if he/she dont buy after viewing? So "I" just meet up afew (confrimed since item not sold yet) then once sold..Good bye to the rest. After all..the seller just want to sell their item ASAP.

Thus....no ethics. Guess they couldn't care..since they just want to off load ASAP as mentioned. Bound to have this type of people around. Remb..you're buying from BNS not from the shop..

heya, no problem! i have not mentioned anything about viewing to him, just a couple of questions (like what color? etc) and i agreed via text that i will go by the price and purchase the bag from him. It is kind of understood that at the point of transaction, functional tests may be done before handing over money (completing the deal), so this should not be a big issue if the buyer(s in this case) have already agreed to the price prior. Benefit given to shops as you pay first, and then check the items, as they have many transactions a day and it is not practical for them.

Let's say you wish to purchase a certain lens from a shop. It's expected (assuming rationality) that you take the actual copy out of the box, do functional tests in front of the shopkeeper, and then agree to leave with the copy (after you pay of course :bsmilie:)

I think all buyers will want to see the item first before giving the money. It's the most natural thing to do.

No matter buyer want to view only or want to buy on the spot, there is no reason to treat him like that. Totally waste of time!

I guess to the seller, BnS means Bull and Sh!t..

we should do a online public listing of handphone numbers to ban such sellers.. I can volunteer to do that if you wish.

Nahuey, i'm sorry to hear that you've met a pilot yourself now and i believe he actually met a few people at the same time. Well, i guess the only comfort here is that it's your free time. I mean it beats those who has to take leave and all right?

A wasted trip but TS saved $45. Lol.
