Saw the recommendation in the General Discussion Forum and I went ahead to contact the seller Henessy from Mass Sale to purchase a 77mm B+W filter. He advised me to go Fu Lu Shou (the address shown in his thread) to buy which I did. Upon reaching the store, I ask the lady shop owner for the filter and after she pass it to me, she started grumbling saying she has no profit for selling the filter and she is only helping a relative. I requested her to show me a 2nd filter as I noticed that the color of the 1st rim is uneven, she handled me a 2nd filter. During the process, she was very rude and asked me if I need to see more .... There were nasty remarks passed by her ... I returned the stuff to her and walk out of the shop. I immediately called Henessy to feedback on what had happened but he said there is nothing much he could do except to post on his thread that interested buyer can only inspect max 3 filters. I told him I was only looking at the second filter and asked why is she behaving in such a rude manner. Henessy explained that lady is her mother and he could do nothing!!!

I just wish to share my bad experience with you guys and warned you of the situation you would face. I have paid $3 for ERP and $2.20 for car park and never did I wish such incidence to happen to myself or anyone of you. My advise is to buy from Henessy if you do not require inspection/checking of the products for you are paying $10s or $100s of dollars.
Cheers

u are making a big ho ha out of the whole issue i feel.... the profit margin from the filter of what i knw of is actually quite meagre...if u dun believe try get from john 316, this same lady whom i deal with before isn't being rude... it was just her way of lamenting and u are being too sensitive

Regardless of the profit margin being meagre or not, this shouldn't be the way a salesperson should act. Basically, customers dun have to or dun even need to care if your margin profit is high or low... all they need to do is see product and pay. If everyone act this way because margin profit is meagre, the service standard will never improve.

i agree... i was there just last Saturday to get a 77mm B+W filter, and i even asked to see the other filters they have inside the box, it was shown to me... i checked out around 4 filters, and yeah, the lady was grumbling, but it doesn't really matter to me... old lady lah! don't be too sensitive... the price from henessy is way cheaper than other shops, i even asked him to reserve for me a 62, 67, & 52mm once the stocks arrive.;)

bro, she is not a filter salesperson... the lady is the advertiser's mom, and she doesn't even know what's so special about that filter. she sells semi precious stones and carvings, and she's just doing her son a favor... maybe, end up her son's filter is selling more than her stones:) so, can't blame her for not feeling so good... hehe!:)

Had good experience buying from Hennessy twice.

weirdly, i also bought from henessy b4.. 77mm , no problems..

Probably just unlucky that it was only his mom in the shop.

Last time i went it was a younger slightly plump lady (think it's his sis). She was certainly nicer than what you've described of the older woman.

Yes, the elderly lady (her mom) is rather grumpy; but maybe because she couldn't understand and appreciate why her son would go through the hassle do such (small profit) business.

His prices are more than competitive; most times even cheaper than direct mail order.

I have made about three purchases from Henessy and I would say kudos to him for his contribution to us members

I had experience with both the "old woman" and the "younger woman". Minimal interaction. They just asked me what I wanted. Upon inspection, I paid for the goods and left. Very fast and hassle free.

Maybe I did not encounter the problems with the goods thats why the process is fast. But I would say the seller provides a very good price. So a little "mis-service" I can still accept. I sure if the seller was to man the shop, situation would have been different. :)

i have bought from henessy before, not a filter, but calibration device.

he was polite, punctual, and past is not representative of future, but i am just sharing.

i am not sure what the issue is with inspecting filter with such a critical eye. in the first place, if the filter is sealed, then should be like that. B+W QC isn't particularly horrible. if i were henessy, i won't even allow inspection of filters beyond 1. and he allows you to open 3 boxes? it is a negative cycle. every customer open 3, put fingerprints here, poke here, poke there, for every filter he sells, 2 will not be acceptable to picky buyers.

i am always amazed by the fact that people want to inspect filters so much... it is just a filter, you will use it, it will get scratched. as long as it screws on tight, doesn't have scratches, who cares about uneven ring, wah biang.

only reason why you would want a pristine condition is if you are a collector, that's the only defense i could think of. then glory to you, please have fun collecting filters in your dry cabinet.

that said, perhaps henessy could talk to his mother about it, or just refrain from allowing option to collect at fu lu shou to avoid such unhappiness.

bought a few time from Henessy, smooth transaction no hazard le
accumulated saving can buy the ND110 ;p

PRECISELY! so TS is one of the many guys going around opening multiple filters and contaminating all of them...what the hell is wrong with you people..ever since i found out, TO MY HORROR, that Henessy was allowing people to open multiple filters for "inspection", and even allowing them to use cleaning cloths to touch the surface, i decided to shant away from him...

BRAND NEW FILTERS ARE BRAND NEW FILTERS...I m not sure about other Mass sellers, but if u want to make sure u are getting a good piece, i know which you should avoid...

okie my bad on this, to the TS, I understand the need to open the next one cause the first you saw was not up to expectations. But its obvious where the source of all the problems originate from, and that's allowing people to open multiple in search of the "best of the lot"...

I still find it hard to accept how Henessy was okie in allowing ppl to open one and then putting it back...there is only two possibilities to that..either u open n its okie and u ahve to take it, or its returned cause there is really something wrong with it..why should tt piece be put back into the lot to be pushed to others?

*sorry for the OT*

i dont believe she can be classify as rude. just that the stuff wasnt hers, hence you are right to say that she "dont give a damn" about customers buying those filters. i have been there twice, except for the fact that i have to wait a rather long time before the shop attendents have time to serve me, anything else is fine. besides, hennessy's price is good, this you cannot deny! i already been to him 3 times already!

Hennesy
Pls stop allowing inspection of filters. its unnecessary trouble.
Keep them sealed. EVen if you buy from Cathay its sealed.

As long as the buyer knows " no inspection policy " beforehand, its fair.
But TS does have a point in the politeness thing. He didn't owe anyone anything.
He paid a fair price and does deserve to be treated nicely.

Hi, As a customer, I care first the price an then check the quality of the goods, that's all folks.

...BRAND NEW FILTERS ARE BRAND NEW FILTERS...

Not true. While I agree it will be bad for business if everyone opens 3 filters and reject 2, brand new filters straight from the distributor have been known to have fungus. In fact the place I frequent insists that the filters are opened and checked. Once out of the shop no more returns. And I have had to reject quite a few so far.

Those that wants good service and no risk, should go to the shops, there is a reason why they are there.
Out of the 3 filter (2 x77m uv + ND110) I bought from him, there is no defects upon inspection, just pay and go.
