hope i'm not too late, but wat i did was to get felt carpet. (they come in different colours from black, yellow, white, blue, green etc.) cost about $60 for a roll 2m wide, 8m in length and 2-3mm thick. u can roll up when not in use.
its just right for a wall in a hdb flat, but u got to build ur own support system. built mine using PVC piping, which can be taken down and assembled in another place.
found this to be the cheapest alternative to using paper or muslin or cloth backdrops. i have 3 rolls in blue, red and black.
