B+W filters: worth paying so much?

Is it worth it paying so much more for B+W filters over basic hoya ones?

For protection and CPL, I use Kenko Pro 1 D.

It is all personal preference la. In the end, performance wise, should be all ok. It is our photography skills that matter more than the brand of the filter.

just bought a hoya cpl 52mm for $46

while I do use the B+W, Ive been doing fine with my hoya and Kenko Pro 1Ds. Im indifferent between these brands.

:bsmilie:B+ w for me anyday, great built quality and reliable. Most importantly it protects most of our L lenses

Hi All Bro & Sis

I have recently purchase this http://www.kenrockwell.com/hoya/filters.htm
@ $70 for a 52mm Filter.

just to check am i overcharge the this filter? Sorry i do not know how to upload picture:(

Thanks!

I think so.

I just got a 72mm B+W F-Pro MRC filter for $70 today.

Got it from an advertiser (Vincent) in the "Mass Sale" section of CS.

yes, it's worth it...

Using B+W too. Its worth the price.

don mind me asking.. what does the "L" on those lenses means? o.O

B+W are head and shoulders above the competition IMO. I've seen what their manufacturing and engineering processes are and it's nothing short of astonishing. Worth every penny.

That said, I don't use filters much for weddings and portraits, I rely on the lens hoods for protection and rarely have time to faff about with polarisers etc.

Seriously just buy one good and you don't have to worry about the possibility of filters screwing up your photos. So i think it's totally worth it..

The easier way to compare is put both filters side by side and view through them onto a pic. you will see a great different.Go on do .

Just got a Hoya Pro 1 D 58mm for $51 for my kit lens~~~

For an newbie like me, i go for a cheap ones. When i turn into semi-pro, go for slightly better one. Turn into pro SHOULD GO FOR QUALITY. This is what i think. What's the point spending so much when are you new to photograpy. Newbie like me will sure damage cos don't know how to clean. HAIZ..

i understand that the coating and all does reduce reflections and cause less ghosting, but i havent experienced much problems with the 'cheap' hoya filters from the basic range, except maybe some vignetting from the CPL

Was just wondering, the only 10 stops nd filter in the market is from bw? Or are there oter alternatives?

i just got my first B+W filter. cost me 88 bucks 67mm

Only use B+W lens. So far they deliver the most satisfying results.
