B+W filters: worth paying so much?

Is it worth it paying so much more for B+W filters over basic hoya ones?

I found my new Hoya HD UV control flare slightly better than my older B+W F-Pro UV Haze 010 MRC. Anyone compared the new B+W XS-Pro UV and the Hoya HD UV?

Haven't compared the Hoya HD one but my XS-Pro's coating is slightly different from the F-Pro one. Contrast wise quite similar.

I've no idea about the Hoya HD prices, u've to ask those who own them. This range is the latest for easy-cleaning and durable construction.

I think it should be aiming at B+W segment, and I will not mind trying that out...

Thanks for your info Bro.... ;)

Wow, I managed to scratch my Hoya HD filter by cleaning it...

For me, its B+W or nothing. Am loving the B+W collapsible rubber hoods as well.

B+W filters is worth the value for money... but I will still go for a gd grade filter like Hoya. I clean my filters every time when after used and it is still as gd as new. I must said is the handling problem or is just my habit. I used cleaning fluid to applied and let it fully evaporate without using any force to remove those stain... most important is to protect the lens glass and without spending so much. Just sold my 2 lenses lately together with the filter on without losing much.

Dude i tried it before. ._.

Anyway it's about the same price as the CZ filters from sony.

Then might be either something wrong with your filter or lens cap. I have one on my 50mm and it caps well.

Congrats! Although i have no idea why one would use a slim filter on a 50mm lens.

And congrats to u too for having that thinking of XS-Pro only for UWA! :bsmilie::bsmilie: *applaudes*

some filters are harder to clean than others, some filters cause ghosting or flaring. If you buy an expensive lens, put an expensive filter on it. No point buying good glass only to have it all spoilt by a cheap glass filter on the front of the lens.

Whatever floats your boat! :bsmilie:

U already flawed 2 comments. First being unable to fit a lens cap due no front thread and the other only for UWA.

Read here: http://www.schneideroptics.com/news/XS-Pro/xs.htm

Next time pls get your facts first before starting to create a scene or being an attention-seeking wannabe.

Just my 2 cents.

Dear Snoweagle,

It was you who commented about me using CZ filters in the first place, not the other way around. So please don't be a hypocrite and shoot me for trying to create a scene. I have no further interest in continuing this conversation with you.

Best regards.

Oh i'm sorry, but i was talking about the XS-Pro filters all this while in this conversation, so who's being a hypocrite now or a 2-headed snake?? :dunno:

Great, same here. Then u take some time to reflect bah.

Anyway sorry to TS for hijacking yr thread. Dispute has been settled 'externally' so it's back to B+W filters!
