This a basic photography course with a different starting at 8th of January 2011 every Saturday from 10 am to 1pm.
Basically the different are where, whom and what.
Let start with where.
Lectures are done in a cafe, where we have a good view, comfortable cafe setting, that every student will have one complimentary muffin and free flow of good coffee and tea. Locating near south of town area in fact you can go shopping after your lesson. Which happen to have a MRT station near by. Outings location are decided by the students on where they want to go.
Whom?
Who should come? If you want a solid foundation of photography basics, that will allow you to handle the technical aspect of the camera and also creative aspect of getting what you want say in your pictures. Regardless the camera is film or digital. Or students could only understand photography terms in chinese. Of course english photography term are also not an issue in the lesson. Or simply you just want to take a good photo.
Who is the instructor then?
That will be our Scott Tan. Scott is a full time professional photographer by trade and chief managing photographer of White Light Photographer. Scott had served in many photography clubs as committee member, recently he only contributing as a committee member in PPAS (Professional Photographer Association (Singapore)) Formally he been teaching in Canon Photography Club as a instructor before stopping for a long time as to concentrate on the business of a professional photographer. Finally What the different?
1) Lesson can be conducted in english or chinese or both the students decide.
2) Class are keep small on purpose from minimum 5 students to maximum 10 students as the instructor could concentrate to teach batter.
3) Not your normal classroom type lessons where you seat there and listen. There 3 lectures, 3 hands on or outing and 2 demonstration total 8 lesson every Saturday. Starting at 8th of January 2011
4) Basic lessons cover from camera control (focusing, lenses usage, exposure, depth of field to lighting and composition to post work with hand on.
5) Course notes will be given and the chinese one are on the way.
6) Lesson offen go more then the three hours allocated per lesson due the instructor insistent that the student have their doubts answered.
7) At only S$280.00 per student clearly we not doing this purely because the money is good.But the passion passing photography knowledge to people want to learn photography so they can say what they want to say in their photos.
