physical shops and online store prices will be different due to overhead cost, so please do not complain after you got it. they got to earn abit to cover their rent/worker's salary etc...

anyway china products cost price and selling price are also huge until you don't know what to offer them.

Ironically, Sim Lim has a photography shop selling the one of the cheapest accessories (IMHO) in the building itself...its at 6th floor.

yeah i agree, always ask ard a few shops before committing to a purchase. At the very least if not, make sure u knw a few shops within the region. like for eg if u were @ simlim and u had known orient photo was at 6th floor this wouldnt hve happened.

Anyways the purchase has been made move on and have greater awareness in future, tht will save u alot of pain

Though this "issue" with Bally is common knowledge, it's good that this have been bought up again as a reminder to newbies or others who have forgotton or who thought that they have "changed".

BTW, they want to sell me a D200 Battery charger for $150.00 and it is one which they took out from a pile of 2nd hand chargers in a plastic box and even claim that it is a new one :bigeyes:

Let me share you guys my experience with them.

A year ago when i started this hobby, i went to simlim to buy a memory card. As i was already on the area i asked some of the shops on lens pricing. I stumbled on this shop. I dnt know any history whatsoever. I asked for the 50mm 1.8. Then this guy looked at me doubtfully.. Maybe i looked like a kid and a joke to him. Lol!

Guy: 50mm 1.8 ha?
Me: yes pls..
Guy: ok. 107 sgd after gst. Pay by cash.
(they have a commotion on the other guy maybe some test whether ill buy it. I dont understand what they are talkin bout though)

me: are you sure?
Guy: yes! Are you buying or not!?
Me: i gave him exact amount, all the receipts and w.card.

They keep quiet for awhile.. Haha!

I make sure that its a new item, everthing is ok and im happy with my nifty fifty.. Hehe!

After the payment they will salestalk you with anything, filters etc etc.. On that part, prices are skyrocketing! Lol!

I only want the lens and walked away..

The abovementioned does apply to bally photo in my experience.

To be honest, if you know how to not be chopped, they are not a hopeless bunch to deal with. I'd rather go to them then to some other grey-set dealer at peninsular.

Guys please avoid going to Bally Photo which located in simlim square.Recently i bought a lens cap from them for 15 which the actual price is only 3.50 in other outlets.

You should be thankful to Bally Photo it did not charge you more for the lens cap.
