Did they ask you to pay deposit? If so, was it full price?

Yes. I paid 4k as a deposit. Before me, 2 more folks but they got theirs last week. The price is the most reasonable in town. If u want it, I think it is safe and u will get it in 2 weeks to a month time.

5 months on since the launch of the Nikon D800 in Singapore and still little has changed

Just received a call from SLRR that stocks for D800 are in, selling at RRP.

??? I am sure it is not 5 months..

The D800 was announced on the 2nd Feb 2012 according to the Nikon Singapore website.

yep, declined the offer as I've got my set. Hope that went to you...

Hi all,

I recently returned from India.. picked-up two units of D800 body. Willing to let go one (not at all used...) Pls check my posting in personal classifieds..

If you picked it up in India then you cost price is 3670SG$ as that's the MAXIMUM RETAIL PRICE

Have you paid GST when you got it into Singapore ? There are chances that when someone buys it from you and they go on a holiday that they may be asked to show receipt when they come back to Singapore. rare but it can happen. and if its an overseas set then you may have to pay a fine as well for not declaring.

I just bought two units from India.. D800.. Though Nikon India website shows a lower RRP, the resellers in market are selling at higher prices.. Official Nikon India dealers don't have stocks.. except a couple of them...

Well you are contradicting your self. first you quote that resellers are selling it more expensive that the MRP. Nikon does penalise resellers or dealers for selling above MRP. and like you said some dealers had stock so definitely you would not have brought it for more money than the other resellers. And if someone were to claim warranty then the original bill would be required and no reseller/dealer will risk putting a figure higher than the Price suggested by nikon india..

Anyways i am not here to spoil anything. if users want it real bad they will pay a premium and if you make a little money then that's good business ploy.

Kane-rulez,

I'm not trying to make money.. its useless trying to do so... :) Actually because of the low volume of availability few dealers who have the stock are selling at higher price, although the invoice they give is lower than RRP.. that's the open secret over there.. Basically they are taking advantage of availability + customers like me who feel the camera to be cheaper because of current INR value... I am just hoping to sell one extra body that I have so that I can top-up & add a D4 to my kit..

You are asking a min of $4550 in your ad when Sg RRP is $4488 - you call this not trying to make $$?
It seems you too are taking advantage of the supply shortage here. Why buy TWO D800 bodies in the 1st place?

Bro peace out. I was just curious as india was selling it cheaper as well as 2 years warranty. And it's none of my business whether you sell at premium or not. If there is demand, supply finds a way. So if stocks less here any body selling it is a good thing to get the balance right. So chill and hope you get what u want.

Do anyone of u know that if u buy an oversea set and it happen to have the left focus issue or any other issue.. Can it get fix at Nikon Singapore for free?? I dun think so right?? So maybe have to pay even more. Good luck to those buying oversea set.. Smile!! I got mine local and safe and sound. Not at retail price. Bought on end march 2012.
