I am not sure if this applies to all APS-C lenses. Initially I read that the rear element of some APS-C lenses protrudes deeper into the body and might foul the mirror, which is a bit scary. Whether this is true or not, I don't know. It might be a marketting ploy to get people to buy new lenses. This 'shaving' technique is well established in panoramic photography circles. Almost all pano photographers use Canon or Nikon, the Tokina 10-17mm lens and the Nikon 10.5mm are particularly favoured. My buying a FF Sony is dependent upon Tokina coming out with a 10-17mm lens with Alpha mount. Otherwise it will be a Canon 5DII.

If it was really a marketing ploy, then they are shooting themselves in their own feet ! haha. Now people know they can mod their cheaper lenses to make them FF :) They will have to come up with some good reasons why people should buy dedicated FF lenses this time :) But perhaps it is really not meant for all APS-C lenses.

Looks like this rumour is now gone ....... Really not sure what is up Sony' sleeves???

Actually there were closed-door presentations and marketing packs issued yesterday... But I haven't been able to get my hands on the files yet, I'm working on it. :)

Is there any more latest update on when we can test this body out?

i think they will be announced this friday... testing out thou, not sure yet.

Finally then, they built up too much anticipation hope there would be good promotional deals.

Wat's the hurry for Sony??
The Sept PC-Show would be a nice way to launch it :)

By looking at all the "leak" information, unless you really want to go FF, I don't really see a point to get the new camera body. From the spec, A700 is 5fps but A850 is only 3fps. Not sure what other stuff Sony would remove from A850 (since it suppose to be a slim down version of A900).

So far seems like 1 Bionz (explains the drop in fps) will be removed + slightly downgraded prism. Still you have the IQ, DR and high ISO performance from the A900, still worth buying if the price is right imho. 2 more days, we'll see.

they said the a850 will keep the 2 BIONZ, but since they reduced the fps, perhaps that processing power is going to something else...? ISO performance, jpeg performance?

Probably they'll cripple the internal buffer to lower the no. of continuous burst shot

SO A850 will be in launch in singapore on which date?

rashkae, no news leh... 25 Aug has past...;)
