but I heard the price in China drops a lot to about 16000 RMB, or about $3400 only leh.

yea but for such expensive camera, i would personally get a local set with local warranty as the servicing fee will be very expensive.

local warranty is only one year right? paying $500 more for one year warranty seems not worthy. unless there's something like Apple's APP for 2-year extended warranty.

The catch is... buying local set 'qualifies' you to buy additional 24months warranty when they make it available. I did for my 40D back then... and in a way quite glad I did! :sweat:

how much you paid for 24mths extended warranty? though it's for 40D, it'll serve as a rough gauge

IIRC, I paid S$130~ for 2 years extended warranty from Canon. Got a free 50mm f1.8 in return.
