asking for a Canon?

your answer is very helpful to me,canon is known to everybody and when we say canon,we think of camera,in fact i want to buy a camera which can take a lot of photos and videos to make a good memory, and at the same time i want to learn something about photography

ask yourself other things such as:

What is the size of camera you are comfortable. No point buying a dslr IF you find it bulky and leave it at home most of the time then might as well consider camera models that are compact.

Are you ready to learn the skills of photography and learn the vast knowledge of it? If you prefer auto mode then maybe DSLR is not for you. You may want to consider things like SX40 if you are ok with the size, has focal length that covers many many stuff.

If not again, a point and shoot is more suitable.

Last but not least, I hope you choose Canon for an appropriate reason, not just because it is CANON.

thanks, your answer is very helpful to me

That is what everyone here is saying... we are all refering to camera (afterall this is a photography forum, no?)

Before anyone of us can give you any meaningful advise or suggestion, we would like to know what camera are you refering to, was it Point and shoot, DSLR or mirrorless camera.

And btw, all the above mentioned can take many photos and videos, no problem at all.

It is the result of lots of advertising, marketing and other activities that many people think 'camera' when they hear 'Canon'. But not all people think 'Canon' when they hear 'camera' :) - There are other brands, starting with Nikon as the biggest rival and going over Sony, Olympus, Pentax and others, offering cameras that are partially better in specs and price than the Canon offerings. It would be quite shortsighted looking only at Canon because of personal perception. After all, in this forum we have plenty of users from all these brands and others).
Since you are new to this topic I encourage you to put the question of brand aside first. There are other things you need to consider first.

Canon 1100D / 550D / 600D is a good start. Save a bit of that budget for a good tripod and/or flash. Unlike camera bodies, tripods and flashes don't become obsolete anywhere as quickly. These may actually stretch beyond your budget... you may get more value for money if you consider other brands as well. Can also consider mirrorless cameras, or a high end PNS.

I agree that 1100D or 600D will be a good start.

Both have adequate amount of pixels. Getting a better lens like a 15-85 or 18-135 will ensure better image quality. You also can consider canon G12 or Powershots in the canon lineup. S95 would also make a good camera.

It's up to personal preference. Do make a trip to canon showroom instead. They have all the things you can try there.

Hehe during my parents era, they used to refer camera with "Kodak" - so for example this question: "Do you bring your camera?" would be "Do you bring your Kodak?"

Just sharing :)

Good Pixels mean more pixels? or better quality pixels? or no defective pixels?
Do mention your budget as well.
You gotta help yourself by being more specific.
Else no one is clear what you want, so there won't be any quality answers. (and lots of poking fun) :)

At this point in time any DSLR from any brand is very capable.
Canon 600D is good for most needs. If you can/want to spend more there is always 60D, 5DII and the new 1Dx
Each higher end camera will have some incremental feature and function over the lower end models, be it buttons for fast access; AF speed; FF sensor; etc.

I suggest you decide on budget before anything else.
No point thinking about a 1Dx if you won't have the budget for one.

This is a photo forum and ppl here use many various brands. It won't sit well with many folks to suggest that Canon is the only name synonymous to cameras.
There are many brands that can be better priced; featured; performing for the same price.
Keep your mind and options open, and your wallet and photographic options may thank you for it.

Gd Luck.
