I even noticed mid-age man collecting too. But, are they local or not? I have no idea.:dunno:
Just a simple theory here. When there's more & more people, more & more competition will arise. And only the best of the best will pass the test.
Almost 20,000 people got no job till date (as I presume). That's scary man!

No choice, jobless happened in every country. No matter how good the goverment structure is build. So...... over and out. Zzzz :flush:

sometimes it depends on how much 1 expects out of life.

if 1 is struggling jus 2 meet basic financial commitment den :( lo.

single ppl like me get no sympathy cos i got no (non at d moment) mouth 2 feed. den if i got no $$ i cant even get a date... :(

Hi, agree with you on the $$ part, but IMPO it seems like all the desirable jobs are grabbed by scholars (in govt. sector) and their “own” people (I leave it to infer what that means) in the private companies. Sad isn’t it? No wonder so many people are so busy working without even thinking whether they are happy or being bored here – ‘cause the jobs doesn’t pay enough and therefore kept them going... :bsmilie: . I must agree with Priscilla who posted a week ago that if this is the case, it is sad way to live.

gee, u laughing at me ah? :embrass:

i've read her post. i dun mind if i m well compensated loh, but tt not d case. being bored is a state of mind. w/ all d current technology available locally, 1 can oni fault 1self. its all in d attitude- d willingness 2 do things outside our comfort zone. S'pore has more 2 offer if 1 tries 2 find, attempt 2 appreciate things. dun always find excuses, if i'm always infront of my PC i could go out n explore Sg on foot, 4 eg.

i guess d prospect of being rediculed by frds is a major concern 4 most ppl? most ppl prefer d "old" you, to a "brand new" you. like a mental trap....

For those who yearns to migrate,

Wait till you've stayed in the UK or Australia for two years..u would be begging for mercy.. Singapore is still one great country to live in unless you want to be treated as 'parasites' and second class citizens elsewhere.
we are already being treated like that here by...you know who

Happiness? A State of Mind rather.

If one is perpetually depressed, he can be living in Bhutan for goodness sake and still plagued with demons of ideals and wondering if it is 'democratic' for Bhutan to be so 'closed' and ruled by a 'royal elite' that doesn't appear to have any elections.

Quoting an observation on the World Happiness Index that was carried out on several nations, its found that Citizens of so-called '3rd World Countries' score higher on the happiness index than most developed countries, including Singapore.

Strange? Not exactly. Perhaps materialism and the unconscious obsession with the word 'success' is the culprit to make everyone lose the contentment spirit that is often seen in developed countries as an 'excuse for laziness'.

Yes agreed.

It is how you look at life.

My grandma used to ask this... Do you want to wake up every morning with a happy and positive mindset or do you want to be miserable?

I don't believe in "positive thinking".
Crap.
If you are miserable, you are.
Things happen.
No amount of positive thinking will change that.

Back to topic.
Most people don't have the luxury of choice which country they wish to live in.
Most just take the lows with the highs and adapt if they can.

There will be trade-offs even if you have the choice.

agree.

if 1 cannot even face unpleasant phases in life honestly. how can 1 truly be happy?
