Any opinions on this, just wondering did any of you guys purposely induce some blur (slower shutter, mis-focus) when taking with these super sharp lenses.

Also thinking when the lens makers will start to re-issue some of their past designs as it seems like older generation lenses are getting more and more popular.

lol why dun u just buy old lens, cheaper that way

have you checked out Zeiss 50mm f/1.5 Sonnar? That is a NEW lens with OLD classic look. Wide Open, it got the blur blur old photograph look.

I think its a bit silly to use new lenses and photoshop to make blur.

in the long term, i do agree that old legacy lenses will appreciate in value, because all new lenses tend to be sharp sharp look. there will always be niche demand for that classic look only old lenses can give.

My purpose of the thread is to generate some discussion based on the subject. Not looking for advice whether to buy old or new, but would like to know from fellow forummers their views and what they prefer m-lens manufacturers to make in the future.

50 1.5 sonnar is a very special lens
f1.5-5.6 is classic lens with classic bokeh
5.6- and up is modern lens

I have come to love the modern lenses =P

Classic lens gives a certain impressionistic/ dreamy look which looks good on some subjects sometime detrimental.

Modern lens give more details I find this very useful when i try to capture people landscape. say you have 12 different people at the bottom frame.

I like apsh lens but the price is freaking me out. Resolution for modern lens are lot better and has great details especially at corners , color wise also tends to be better.

Yes, the new lens are getting sharper !!! So sharp until no need to sharpen in pp.
