i get my stuffs from JB jusco tebrau city Mee Too.i hv no problem with tat shop.
Do ur homework b4 u shop, i think this rule applies everywhere.

BUT, bags are definitely cheaper in SNG

Yup..DSLRs are cheaper in Malaysia, just make sure is Nikon Malaysia Warranty as there are gray set.

The camera shops in Plaza Low Yat offer quick good price, you can try Cam World http://www.camworld.com.my/ bought my Nikon D300s include a 50mm 1.4/f lens and 4GB CF for RM5300.

ya, malaysia is cheaper then S'pore. for D300s now selling at RM5300.
D700 at RM7600 , Canon 5D mark II at RM8600.
for D3000 only RM2050. but all are 1 yr m'sia side warranty.

Currently Canon M'sia offer 1+2 yrs warranty until 31 Dec
In PEN, certain shops selling certain Canon bodies (5DII, 7D) about SGD$100 to $200 cheaper. So, the price is about the price of Sg before GST.

U can go to JB Tebun City (theres a big Jusco in it)

Its the most upclass shopping center u can find in JB.

I just check the 5Dmark2 is $250-300 cheaper than singapore.

I was at Angsana yesterday and was quoted RM 14,200 by both Foto Berlian and Mee Too for the D3s.

Foto Berlian informed me that they are expecting 2 sets today, while Mee Too has not placed any orders and will only indent if requested by the customer - not sure if they will ask for a deposit.

As the exchange rate is S$1 to RM2.30, this means that the price is approximately S$6,180.

The suggested retail price for the D3s here is S$7,888 which is before discount.

street price in singapore is quite far away from the malaysian price u just converted

Not true for certain models.. If 5D mark II is RM8600, then it is more expensive than what u can get in singapore. But I realized for the past few months, prices for certain models of Nikon slr dropped drastically in Malaysia. That I agree that they are indeed way cheaper than singapore.. Think some models are even cheaper than what u can get in HK. Best advice is do your homework before you buy.

In a nutshell most DSLR/Lenses etc are cheaper in KL. Rules of thumb - Low Yat/ Bukit Bintang/Sg Wang area shops DO NOT offer the best pricing -period! Small shops around KL provide the best service and pricing since they are family run shop/photographers.

It seems like JB is the most expensive place to shop for camera in Malaysia, thanks to Singaporeans, D700 was RM$5999 in KL but RM$6300 in JB. But its still significantly cheaper than Singapore.

Yes,JB prices are just too pricey compare in KL..A D300s just cost me RM4295 w\8gb CF..A D700 at RM5950 w\8gb CF too..A nikon AFD 50mm f1.4 cost only RM985..All after haggling for more discount....
