yah, use it when u see the need..

A bit of OT here..can one use a tripod during underwater photography? If not, how can he/she keeps the camera from shaking for long exposure shots?

should a monopod since the seabed may not be total flat ground to place the tripod.. extra care has to be for wet metal parts after using them.. even CF ones..

yup, i dun bring it out unless there is a need.

No I don't think you get my point. What I'm saying is why ask whether a tripod should be used indoors or outdoors? If it's needed indoors, then use it indoors. If it's needed outdoors, then use it outdoors. Simple as that.

IS or a monopod I guess? You probably have to weigh a tripod down when shooting, and it really has to be on the seabed, no less.

wah! monopod and tripod ah..can imagine how clumsy it is to setup..but then what if diving at deep sea..no chance to reach the sea bed one..:dunno:

Why need tripod underwater? If want to experiment, can use a cheapo one and remember to rinse down with water after the dive.

Just brace against something solid, but NOT coral!
If the under currents are too strong, can just about forget liao!

deep sea , no pods better.. just point n shoot.. hehe.. so troublesome to set up..

what do u mean by universal ?

a good tripod will follow the photographer for 10-20 years unlike system.. do not save money on it.

I was speaking to some people very recently and they gave me a new theory about tripods which I think if everyone were to follow, they will need to replace their existing tripods now.

"The ideal tripod (with head) when fully extended must be very close to eye level w/o extending the centre column."

How correct is this statement? Cos with this in mind, most people who own (eg) Manfrotto 190 or even the 055 are all using tripods that are too short for them.

logically or theoretically rite..but how many are willing to carry that kind of load?

If you search the threads for tripod, you'll find a post by Parker about 4 weeks back saying that PPCP cf tripod are about to be shipped. Has anyone got more news about this?
