You;ve shaved off a little too much off the right side. As a guide, the space between the buildings on the extreme end and the edges of the frame should be equal.

btw, it seems tat the buildings are not sharp

any particular reasons for that?
is it the tripod or lens or the point to focus?

Thanks Bros Carlos and Big Thank you to Kit's for giving us very good tips to improve my shooting... now need to just improve my ballhead to gearhead... kekeke... I only use the UV filter to protect my lens other then that I don't like using filters much... Cheers!:bsmilie:

I think you can still afford more contrast for the 1st one. The buildings in the 2nd shot are too dark. Given that they were not adequately lit up at that time, the impact is kinda weak. Not really a good timing for the shot.

The buildings on the right side (particularly noticeable is UOB tower) are tilting inwards, which is something to take note of if you do some perspective correction in PP after the shoot.

oh ya, anyway guys here r my pics. Kit, i've always something to ask about exposure, i always seem to have a problem with getting the right exposure. for such shots we cant rely on the exposure meter in our cam rite? i tried to overexpose it a little, but its still pretty dark.. espeically the buildings.. there was once i overdo it also. buidlings okay but the rest too bright.... soo... a bit confused now.:thumbsd:

appreciate if u can provide some pointers/tips for me to take note.

oh ya.. my pics are very CRAMP too i think?

I'm glad you realize that the pics are too cramped... Just wondering why you didn't do anything about it on-the-spot?

Of course you can rely on your exposure meter... but you must use the right mode and assess the information accordingly. It's all about analysing the whole scene, understanding which objects are brighter than the others, and how to read off the meter accordingly.

Nice meeting you guys. It's been quite some time ever since I've attended Kit's Outing. In addition, it's pretty nice to meet new peoples whom I've never met. Just that the weather is bad this morning.

Here's my best take for this morning.

You got it nice n sharp, but the perspective distortion is :bigeyes:
and the composition.... so much empty and feature-less sky...

This one looks over-corrected in terms of the perspective distortion... the building on the extreme left is tilting away from the center... perhaps your lens has strong pincushion distortion... :think:

Yeah... the photo looks soft somehow...

the building is tilting cos of the camera is tilted when doing the taking
i am thinking maybe i may have used a smaller apperture which could cause the photo not tat sharp

Hard to tell. Maybe in future you can try remote shutter so that you don't introduce shake onto the system when you press the shutter.

Another could be the IS/VR was on. If you are using a tripod, and it is stable, you no longer need IS/VR, and in fact, it could give you a negative effect and introduce hunting in your lens. So, setting it to Manual Focus once you have established correct is one method I would use.

Anything above f16, at say f22 or even higher, could result in defraction, and the effect is softer pictures.

As stated earlier, turn off IS/VR, set to manual focus and use your live view screen to determine sharpness by zooming into the building features.
