Apple iBooks and Powerbooks

$189 for 512mb pc27000 333mhz (for 15 and 17" pb), found the ad in sg.yahoo.com classified. As it turns out, Apple is using hynix ram in their powerbooks too.

1 GB is using, I have idvd, imovie, iphoto, itune, dreamweaver and photoshop all open and running without a hitch. Previously with 512mb, there's some sluggishness.

Oh ok. So you added a 512MB to the inbuilt 512. Just wondering, is anybody interested in paying S$450 for one stick of 1GB pc2700 333mhz SoDimm for the Powerbook?

my 15" alu pb serves me well, great iphoto, great experience running the slideshow on the beautiful screen !

Just had mine upgrade to 1GB Hynix RAM, great!

Haha BH! so you bought after all! Got the same stuff as you did, at NUS price with additional 256mb RAM and 3 yr local warranty FOC.

Awaiting my order of a 1GB RAM stick from US. Will let you guys noe how it goes.

I have already replaced the Apple Logo on the lid with a Red Dot. Now when it is on the Red Dot glows.

And i'm sending the pb to Shintaro for a repaint job to black paint, instead of the chrome look it has now. While i'm at that, I've asked DAG to see if he can do a CLA on it. the screen is getting dusty :devil:

greg, as always u display ur preference for higher mag version viewfinders - ur pb is the 0.85x version while mine is the wider 0.58x version

No no, our PB is the 0.85. The 15 and 17 are the 0.72 and 0.58 respectively.

Not the other way round? 15/17" = wider = less magnification if you talk about field of view.

Got a piece of 256MB PC2700 (333MHz) DDR 200-pin cas2.5 SoDIMM (Hynix) for Powerbooks for sale at $70. Very lightly used, works perfectly, taken out from a Powerbook that's less than 2 mths old (replaced with a 1GB chip). Interested, let me know, I'll keep it for you.

Also, would anyone be interested in new 1GB SoDIMM for their Powerbooks? The specs are PC2700, 200-pin, 333Mhz. Priced at $450. Works perfectly with the G4 PBs, tested it myself. Also, drop me a PM. Sim Lim shops sell these for $600+, and Apple Store's website lists this upgrade at $1k+.

Am thinking of getting a G5 for my desktop. I have never use Apple before. Can anyone tell me if the Ms office I created in Apple can be opened in Windows (my office). Also, what about Singnet broadband connection.

Hi Serene,

No issue at all! As long as you have MS Office installed in your office pc. As for SNBB, you need to get an Ethernet modem as a normal USB modem will not be compatible.

I just bought myself an ibook a few weeks back too. Was trying very hard to get accustomed to a mac environment. So far so good...quite happy with my ibook's performance.

Thanks for your inputs.
I am using 2wire broadband modem. Do you have any recommendations for a resonably priced Mac compatible modem?
What about the use of Outlook, etc, hv you encountered any problems.

Coz, I am weighing between a Thinkpad T42 and a G5 and the latter is also cheaper for me.

Any feedback on compatibility issues is appreciated. Coz my office uses Windows and I bring my work home sometimes.
