dude.... think b4 what u post.... b4 u kenna gunned down by the admins or worse by the shop....

Actually every shop has its own pros and cons. I have got good value and service from AP but I only deal with a single salesman and no others. There are also other reputable shops which I hardly will be able to buy many things from them because their prices are always above average and I can get much better value elsewhere. There are times where the occational Ah Beng shop will even sell you at a cost that is irresistable and I will buy from them even if it is a one time business. In short always shop around and know the price and beware if prices are too good to be true.

Prices at AP are expensive compared to other shops? :dunno:

That depends. :nono:

Just for the information, a brand new grey set - Canon EF 24-70mm f2.8L USM is going for $2,050 at AP vs $2,250 at TCW. So you are paying $200 for the shop warranty at TCW. Also, comparing to 2nd hand non-warrantied 24-70mm going for $1,900 and above in the B & S forum, would you rather buy a brand new grey set at AP? The choice is yours.

Remember :light: there is no free lunch.

Disclaimer : I am not working for AP or in any relationships with anyone from AP.

USM, its alright that they do sell grey sets, in fact many here do have a thinking of what you shared. It does help many save $. What I felt was that it would be more ethical for shops selling grey sets to let consumers know that what they buy would not be covered under the original manufacturer's warranty but shop warranty instead. Those of us in the CS forums have the good luck to find this out...but many out there don't. And the level of their own service under the one year warranty becomes another issue too.

Just reminds me to ask the next time I'm told "This comes with one year warranty" to ask "Covered by manufacturer or shop?"

Never realised about such an situation...until I came into photography! In fact, a friend of mine in CP was the one who told me about greys.

it still vocie down the consumer.... if u feel that the shop warranty & service Price of the len is justifable ..... then buy...

if u feel that thou the price is low but the service is crap... u might just wanna spend a bit more for a "better service " shop... its still the buyers choice...

CS is a place we share our experience with cameras, lens, techniques, skill and blah blah.... so just live with all this thread of bombing and advising.... for me... i find that this is what a forum is used for.... a place to enlarge our horizon and oso educate our minds..

hahah my 2 cent!!! Peace and Keep it Real! :blah:
