If only the Contax N 17-35 is smaller, it will be a very popular lens. Taken today, a few last shots of 2012.

Let's do it here. As "best" is subjective, let's change this to your favourite photo taken by a Zeiss lens in 2012 instead. Would be nice to include a small write up on why it is your favourite photo taken by a Zeiss lens for 2012. Please center align the picture so that we can differentiate the 2012 favourite photos from the normal posts.

mw1986 (no relation to MWP :) ) has already got it started.

Thanks. But seriously it is a monster of a lens. I'll wish for something smaller. :)

Happy New Year! Welcome 2013.

My favourite photo taken with a Zeiss in 2012

This photo has the top right washed out and a big red lens flare at bottom left. Probably not the best but is my fav for 2012. This scene was captured totally out of the blue. I was walking along an alley with the couple coming towards me in the opposite direction.
I was aware of the strong backlight but not prepared for what the scene offered. I turned my head and saw the glow around the couple and the shadow they cast on the ground. But 3 things are not in my favour. The ground was very steep and I am in an elevated position with a not so ideal perspective. A guy just walked past the couple towards me and would have been in the frame next to the couple. The backlight is too strong (that's why the flare). Seizing my chance and thinking to just snap and see what I can post processed later, I dropped to the ground with my backpack acting as cushion. The amazing thing happened. The guy seeing me do that instantaneously made a huge jumped out of my frame and stood still. This allowed me to take 3-4 snaps before the couple walked out of the light. It lasted no more than 3 sec. And this particular one has both the man and lady walking in unison, stride for stride. I like the feel, the romance and the warmth this picture generate. Enough for me to ignore the flaws.

Taken with Sigma SD15 with Zeiss ZS 50/1.4 @ f1.4

Thanks :) I organised a session this morning with over 10 photographers so I've committed. Makes it a little easier to get out of bed :)

Good start for the New Year :)

Thanks.

Having glass in adapter will degrade the IQ. Not having glass in adapter will not allow infinity focus. Mount replacement seems the way to go. Check out the Leitax link I posted previously.

Anyone here owns the new 15mm? read some good reviews but was thinking if i should part some serious money for it

Good start for the New Year :)

Thanks :) It could be better but I think given the weather condition of the past few week, we couldn't ask for anything better.

Was told that mine will be arriving this week. If it does, I should be able to try it out over the weekend.
