The usual shops at Funan. Try SLRR - they got a shipment about 6 weeks ago when I got my 21mm. 15mm still there last week !!

Thanks for the advice.

Love Zeiss lenses ...

An old image from my favorite film camera, Hasselblad 503CW using a Zeiss 180mm f/4 lens ... f/4 on medium format is different of course

This is from a Zeiss C/Y 50mm f/1.7, on an Olympus Pen camera, warm gold reflector used

And some casual people images from the Zeiss C/Y 100mm f/2 (another keeper) on my new workhorse, the Fuji XE-1
Shot in a dark temple yesterday, all ISO 3200, at f/2. Basically OOC, I could have made them more vibrant to compensate for the low light,
but it shows how ISO performance has come a long way ...

Do anyone know what adapter to get if I've Zeiss Planar 50/1.7 len & Canon 450D? Brought this len from eBay. Thought can directly mount on my camera but it doesn't. Many thanks in advance!

If your lens is of Contax/Yashica mount, you should get the CY-EOS adapter. If it is of a M42 mount, you should get the M42-EOS adapter.

It's an CY mount. M using mine on my X-E1 with the CY to X Mount adapter from China, eBay selling around 30 bucks... But some adapters might not allow you to focus to infinity on this lens, beware...

I don't know about the Canon 450D, but in general, Canon's viewfinders are really bad for manual focusing as was my experience before. At least on the 5D, the screen can be changed. So I would suggest you get an AF Confirm C/Y adapter to Canon. Google for the best one if you can. Of course, that will be pricier, but it has more features, like this one (just an example, I forgot who was the one making the good ones) -> EMF AF Confirm CY Contax Yashica C Y Lens to Canon EOS EF Adapter Black Brass | eBay otherwise, cheaper one with less features ok too. It's a thin adapter, so not much problem with light loss.

Same with C/Y for other cameras like Nex, Fuji, Olympus. They are even bigger adapters, and because of this, adapters are not all the same, they affect sharpness, edges. Unfortunately, the best ones i tried are the pricier ones from Rayqual and Novoflex. RJ from China was fine, but the lens wiggled a bit (probably since there are 2 types of 50mm f/1.7, AE and MM). Of course, if not so particular, cheap one will do. Rayqual in particular has light baffles and the right size hole (Novoflex too if I remember) for light to pass through properly, not just any hole will do.

I forgot about another great Zeiss lens, fixed lens on the Rolleiflex 2.8F TLR. 80mm f/2.8 Planar. There were two types for this camera, a Schneider and Zeiss. The dealer told me the sharper Schneider was more sought after in Asia, while Planar was hunted down in the West. Well, I preferred the Planar after using both, here's one example, using Tri-X 400, only film I had at the time.

Another solution is to change the mount. I have bought a couple from David. His mounts are very well made and he responds to every email. Definitely worth the higher costs.
Leitax

Why I use this instead of a simple adapter? Some CY lenses have protruding aperture lever or rear lens protection which could get in the way. Changing the mount is a reversible solution which does not requires modifying of the original CY mount.

Thanks, yes, they are medium format ... The Rolleiflex is the one with two lenses that we see in old movies :-).

Here is one of those I used before ... shot on film with a Zeiss. I don't remember if the grip is from Rollei or whether I took it from another camera. I am left-handed so it was great.

Wow, the Jahre 135f2. Read and viewed many wonderful photos taken with this lens but never had the chance of hold one. Do you also have the Jahre 55f1.2 and 85f1.2? Post a photo of the Jahre 135f2 here and it will make my New Year wishes. Cheers.
