Just came back from KL...Got some good news for you.
Saw F-32X on sale at Sg Wang Plaza.
The shop name is Boeing Electronics, the shop number is (KLG2 - might be wrong) and the retail price was RM889...

Thanks for the tip. Is that expensive converting to SGD? I would prefer to buy in Singapore though.

Not to worry... We still have orders for 3 units at MS Colour - remember?

Sigh, because of lack of external flash, I have to forgo 2 photo projects, sigh.. :(

Hey all, is this a signal of a new flash to be introduced soon? Sony always does this before a new product is launched. I've been a fan of Sony products for a long time now. You can clearly see this happening for Vaio notebooks all the time. They stop unloading any more stocks onto the market and let those already out there exhaust. After a month or two a new model is suddenly released. Usually there is no news or other indication of a new model either.

That's why I say also in my previous posts. Hope this is true. However, the new flash should be launched with another new digicam supporting it, or else it makes no sense for Sony to launch a new flash for old cams, esp when currently only F828 and the aged V1 supports dedicated flash hotshoe.

Update.

I finally managed to get the F32X in Hong Kong for $280.

Good to hear that .... I suppose it's on international warranty?

If I remember correctly. Sony accessories does not come with warranty. At least that was what a Sony staff told me. I could be wrong. It might have been for car audio products only. Anyway I have a pile of Sony stuff at home. Warranty is secondary.

Huh? Even my $70 slave flash got warranty. Why isn't Sony providing any? As long as it is electronic-based, there should be warranty.

I could be wrong. When I bought a remote control for my car stereo headunit from Sony Singapore directly. I asked the counter staff about the warranty period, her reply was Sony does not provide warranty for accessories. It could be specific to certain products only. Trying to find a well mannered and knowledgeable Sony staff is quite difficult. Sony Singapore is staffed a group of really unprofessional rejects. At least that is the impression they give me. So I not going to bother calling them to find out.

Seriously. There is no warranty card in the F32X box. I don't remember seeing warranty cards or details for stuff like memory sticks, filters, case, etc.

Yes Sony do not provide warranty for some items. When i bought my F1000 flash i was told also that there isn't any warranty card. I find that kinda strange... If the El Cheapo Enzer product comes with Warranty Card

Thanks for all your feedback. Guess that's gonna be one huge factor that dissuades me from getting a Sony flash... maybe I should just get a compatible which is cheaper and got warranty some more!

Is the Metz hotshoe adaptor for Sony cams in already?

Okay, now to bring this one step further.

I bought a MS PRO in HK yesterday. It does come with warranty. There is a sticker at the back proclaiming one year local warranty. Keep the packaging and receipt for claims. It is by the local Sony distributor.

Anybody back in Singapore with the packaging can confirm it comes with warranty? If it doesn't, we really are bring ripped off. It cost only $130 for a 256 MS PRO here.

hi, the Sony HVL-F32X is selling like hot cake, I bought one for $339 at Funan centre actual price $359 . I get a $20 coupon when buying the F828.
the HVL-F32X is just a piece of sh*t when compare to my Nikon SB80 DX flash. the only reason I bought the F828 cos of the carl zeiss lens.

So it looks like the stocks are in at the Sony Shops. I hope you are happy with the F828 with the Zeiss lens. Since you are not happy with the F32 flash, I heard that you can use your SB80 on the F828. Did you try it?

logically, you can mount Nikon SB80DX flash on F828. but u can't have TTL function. cos hot shoe contact pin not at same position. further more ,I don't think Sony camera can "talk" to Nikon flash. so u have to mask all contact pin accept the centre pin which is the flash fire pin and SB80DX will operate on Auto Mode. that is to say you set the aperture on both flash and camera to same setting. cumbersome that is why I bought the HVL-F32X. hey, I going to use my F828 and HVL-F32X on my next wedding photo assigment.

Lucky you! I am looking forward to my wedding assignment in June. Hopefully I can get the flash in time. Do share with me your valuable experience using the flash!!!
