Anyone wants to share some E6 chemicals?

Hi, guys,

I've managed to get in touch with the local Fujihunt chemical supplier to see if I can purchase a set of E6 processing chemicals. This is the 6-step process, and comes in volumes that are optimized for processing labs. Just give you an idea of the volume - the first developer in each carton comes in 4 bottles of 5 litre concentrate, from which 25 litres of working solution can be made from each bottle, making a total of 100 litres of working solution!

This is clearly too much for one person to swallow, and I'm wondering if there are people on the forum here that are interested to share the chemicals with me. Each set of 1 carton each will cost around $900, final price to be confirmed. Minimum order is 2 cartons of each chemicals from Fujihunt, otherwise the order can be fulfilled by their export distributor for a minimum of 1 carton each.

Due to the way the chemicals is bottled, the easiest way to split is 4 person to a carton, enough for 25 litres of working solution of each solution for every person. If you use the Paterson tank and use full immersion development, it's enough for 50 rolls of 120, or 83 rolls of 135. Splitting the cost 4 ways means each of us will pay around $225+, and that the development cost for each 120 roll will work out to be around $5, and each 135 around $3, not to mention the fun and fulfillment of developing your own slides being priceless.

If you are interested to read up on the technical information of these chemicals, I've put up a copy here. (The literature refers to the process as C6R, which is Fujifilm's term for E6.)

I'm not making a profit on this - just trying to garner enough orders to scratch my own itch. As such, all cost will be transparent and everyone pay at cost.

If you are interested, please pm me! Thanks for reading!

Ok, I have managed to confirm the pricing - the total price for a carton of each of the chemicals is $900 + 7%GST = $963. This is the exact price quoted by the supplier.

I've got one gentleman willing to pick up a quarter of the set - $240.75. I'm hoping that at least one more person will pick up another quarter portion. That will to ease my storage problem, and reduce my cash outlay. The chemicals can be kept for 2 years. The developer has a 6 months shelf life once opened, unless it is kept in a air tight container.

So, let me know! Drop me a PM! :-)

this is most interesting. i have zero experience in e6 as i shoot mainly b&w. is it very tough being a six -step developing process ?

I've got 2 other fellow gentleman sharing the lot, so I've written to the supplier to confirm the order. I should have the lot by the end of the following week. If there's anyone else want a set - let me know!

I will be using the chemicals with an automated processor. For manual processing, I know Wootsk has been doing it all along. Perhaps we can get him to do a demo? :-) In a thread in the large format side I believe he mentioned that it can even be done outdoors! :-)

I uses human processor, never used a automated processor before. ;p
Anyway, it can be done outdoor by theory, but it feels quite stupid to do it that way -_-"
I am interested, by currently no space to store anymore chemicals. Some of my raw chemical and large volume powder are taking a lot of space. Anyway wants to buy some Sodium Bisulphate? I got a 5kg pail of it ;p

Hey, come to think of it, if you are keen to do a demo, i can probably provide the venue using the darkroom in my office after working hours. Let's see how many are interested! We can cut a roll and develop them separately, one by the machine, and one manually, to see how the end result compares. I'm wondering if I should get a pack of E6 control strips to verify the quality of the machine as well - but it's USD99 each! *ouch*

And if you are interested in a set of the E6 chemicals, I can keep it for you in the mean time. Just let me know!

I don't mind doing a demo. I did 135 rolls before, but only 2 rolls for testing out and 1 roll for trying cross processing of negative films. (They need at least 500ml of water and you know how headache is it to heat 500ml just to 38 - 40 degree and maintain it.)

If you are bringing in it, I am sure there are people interested. Maybe you can join the postponed Hwa Par Villa Shoot outing organized by Nikkornos‎ and voice it out during the break for kopi session? We can also have a more concrete group by then as well.

The control stripe isn't really required from my POV. Reason is lazy to type.

I can try to borrow my lab's temperature controlled hot plate. I think it can work for low temperature as well.

That will be nice. The issue here is communication. Maybe we 3 can meet up somewhere and discuss the idea first over a cup of coffee lets say this weekend?

So how? Can make it this weekend???

Should be good not for a long while. A good place to meet?

I'm not sure where Lo Sheng stays. If he is at north area or close to there, maybe somewhere like AMK will be fine. Else it will be in central.

Hey, weekends are hard for me due to kid logistics - the only time I get to spend some time with the kids. How about weekday evenings? Since I'll be picking up the E6 chemicals tomorrow, meeting at my office to admire the stock and check out the darkroom after working hours works for me. How about next Monday or Tuesday? My office is at Middle Road, near the Guangying Temple.

Middle road:think:

I should be able to make it next Monday. Wonder about Patrick.

Yeah... I should be good. After office hours right? 8+pm?

Ok, Monday evening sounds good - how about 7pm? If you guys are keen, we can grab dinner nearby.

Hey, guys, I've got the whole set of chemicals now! If there's anyone else interested, there's still a set available! Please pm me your contact and I'll get in touch with you!

Nice sharing session we have today, Vege bird didn't contributed much though (too noob). I'm quite surprise that Lo Sheng has quite a large collection than I expected. (more film reels than my finger can count and the amount of Nikon cameras!) Maybe next meeting will be processing as well as some darkroom session? Working on some "developing project" and can share on next meeting while we can also guide our dear new friend (forgot name again sorry) on some darkroom stuff as well.

Just preparing for my second career as a garang guni man :-)

Thanks guys for coming by - that was great! And many thanks for agreeing to share the cost of the chemicals - which by the way, one portion is still available for anyone that's interested - anyone already owning a Jobo set shouldn't be seen without some of these good stuffs :-)

The bleach taste like ribena blackcurrant. 20ml per day is enough to substain your vitamin C requirement for the day :) Soon you will be finding that you need to order more.
