Anyone tried EG-ENEL3e with Nikon D300?

Anyone knows whether EN-EL3 and EN-EL3a can be used with the D300? I know the manual says you can't because you won't get the battery info, but will there be any other adverse effects if you do use it?

My experience with D200 is that you can't even put the battery in. There is a mechanical notch and the notch is smaller on the 3a. The 3e has a bigger notch and so can fit in the D200/D80 as well as D70s/D50. Electrically, I masked off the centre terminal of the 3e and the D200 just refused to start.

I see...thanks for the info. But the charger is generic right? Meaning, whether it is the MH-18 or the MH-18a, can charge any of the EN-EL3 batteries, whether it is 'a', 'e' or the original...?

I have tested at home and in Eastgear. Eastgear Camera Devices EG-ENEL3e third party battery not working for my D300. I even went down to Sim Lim Square to get other third party battery. Also no luck, only original work for me.

I you really want to buy, bring your D300 camera to the shop and test.

Hi Guys,

We used to name our batteries EG-XXXX but we have since switched our naming to CD-XXXX.

Our CD-ENEL3e should work fine with the D300.

We invite users of D300 to come to our shop / office to try out the battery before purchasing.

FYI: we will be at SITEX 2007 starting 29th Nov and will be selling the ENEL3e there.
