Get the Letus Economy or the Letus Extreme and then get afew nikon primes.
Easy to set up, great edge to edge sharpness and it does produce beautiful shallow DOF images.

The brevis is pretty nicely constructed and easy to mount. Very sharp images with not much light lost.

Same goes to the Letus Econ/Extreme. U dont get much light lost. I own a Letus Econ, call me up if u wanna play around with it.

depends on what cam u r using with. If u own an EX1 den go for the Letus Extreme with flip. If u r shooting with Canon A1 go for Brevis.

hi guys,

Has anyone out there ever tried using films lens on digital video cameras?
I've heard of this adaptors PS tecknick, Redrock and Letus35. Which is better?
These adpators mainly gives that film look to digital video cameras but i would like to know which is a better buy? The output of these images are awesome! Do take a look at the links below.

What you guys think?

thanks for the feedbcak guys. personally, i prefer the extreme as it's shorter than the brevis with flip. so, the only reason for me to go for brevis is if the image quality is better.

Hobbes00,
no plans to upgrade to extreme? :)

engr,
do u own the brevis with flip?

sgmlyfilmsociety,
yes, it gives u the nice shallow DOF of film lenses. All have their strong and weak points. But judging by affordability, design and image quality...brevis and letus extreme are the most popular. PS technic very $$$$!

I have the brevis without the flip. My pals at Videolifestyle do have the flip. Image quality is rather subjective.. as long as the lens is good it is pretty sharp. So far Canon A1 has been a great companion for the brevis flip. As for Letus Extreme, the Sony EX has performaed very well with it. You have to take note that the back focusing to the videocam len is very critical. The brevis flip has build in alignment for most cams.. I am not sure of the Letus Extreme but it is pretty good from the footages so far. Only disadvantage of the Letus I see is the shape, causing handheld work to be a little tricky. Brevis is better for run and gun situations.. but once the flip is up it may be similar to LE. You can visit Videolifestyle chaps to make your inquiry. I think the Letus Extreme is in Singapore by now too

Just four info, all the Letus all comes with the images right side up, it doesnt even require rails if you shoot with just a 50mm prime (Well, many people did pull that off)

Not knocking the Bervis or anything, I would go for a Letus or a Bervis over the other brands anyday. But like i said, Bervis images are flip up side down.

Honestly, think hard before you buy - if you have the extra cash throw around, or if you really can earn the money back because you will be spending ALOT more money than the adapter itself. Here is the list of other stuff you might need..
- HD Monitor
- Monitor arm
- Rails support system
- Follow Focus
- Matte Box
- A bigger tripod
- Handheld system

Trust me, its a big investment unless you are ready to compromise here and there. They shoot you good images, but make sure its worth your money because if you have the best camera in the world, it doesnt mean your video will be the best in the world.

But if you guys are getting anything let me know =D we can order stuff together and save on shipping. I already have the Letus Econ and I dont intend to upgrade unless i have alot of money to throw around =)

Well said Hobbes! He is right, there is a lot more to be spending.. The prime lens cost like $500 a piece and you need about 3 to be more flexible. Rails is a must if you are should the whole day.. you do not want the threads of your vcam to wear out. HD monitor is nice to have but it is possible to go without if the vcam has focus assist mode to expand the pictures to help you focus BUT this is quite a hassel.

The Brevis does come with a flip ver now so its effectively the same as Letus Ext. I have to agree the Brevis is rather long thou :)

I see zacatro rails =) $3000 USD? lol

Anyways... like i said earlier... i own a Letus Econ, come use it and do a test shoot. Or join my next film production =D

If i'm getting the Canon HV30 that will be out soon with the letus35 mini..
I just dont know what is thread size? 37mm or 43mm?
Lens mount for me is Nikon lens.
should i buy with the bundle or separate?
should i buy with the rod support systems?

Can advise?

Heres my honest advice. Take the money you have a invest in a XH-A1 or a DVX102. if you want, a HVX202
You will certainly have top-notch pictures. And you can use these cameras to do events and gigs. Your clients will not hire a guy who has a mini-consumer camcorder. And a stock camera lens from any of those 3 cameras has better pictures than your gear you mention.

Listen to Hobbes. His advice is good.

HV30 has a 43mm filter diameter. Get the mini version of the Letus35 flip. I have one mounted on a camcaddie scorpion. Get also a cavision pistol grip. You can take a look at my set up here:
