anyone own a Minolta AF 400/4.5

anyone using the above mentioned lens. interested in getting one. However, the usual shops I go does not carry this bazoka. :embrass:

Why not buy a 200mm F2.8 G lens + a 2X TC? These 2 items are far more common than a prime 400mm lens.

Hi Yuhsuan, I have considered that option already... it sum up to something like 2k+, 400/f5.6, but give a little more, i can have a 400/4.5 which is better... I agree with you that 200/2.8 is common but the 2x tele is the problem... hard to find minolta one... Me no interest in using 3rd party convertor for the 200/2.8... that's why... :embrass:

with regards to the 200-400 tamron 5.6, well... I do not think the review is too good for that lens... the 100-400 minolta af APO seems to be better than the tamron bazaka...

My friend got the 400 4.5 from prime camera at penisular plaza. there is still one more 300 f2.8 apo g lens at prime, S$2080 good deal.

I use the 100-400 APO from Minolta. Very good lens.... only the f-stops dun suit your needs.... a good compromise in terms of price and performance lor... do u really need the constant aperture?

I am intending to use the pictures from that lens for submission for potential competition... the bigger the lens the depth of view will be shallow... good to isolate subjects... I am also using it with ASA400-800 film for indoor concert performance which does not allow flash... this is a good investment... but not good for travelling...

IMO, the 300mm f2.8 APO G is a steal if the condition is good. couple with the kenko pro TC, WOW!!

1 Minolta 300mm f2.8 can buy 10 Tamron 2nd Hand..hehhehe!!!

If you are getting it 1st hand, you can ask MS Color to order for you. Alternatively, just order directly from B&H. It'll be real difficult to get a 2nd hand lens in Singapore. It'll be too rare. I saw a Minolta bazooka at Prime a few months ago, but I'm not sure if its the 400/4.5

This lens costs a bomb and I daren't even dare dream of it. Honestly, I can't think of a reason I may ever even think of getting it unless I become a serious shooter of nature, namely birds.

If you do get it, then must share with us the pictures you captured while using it.
