Anyone here thinking of jumping ship?

with the release of 5D MK2, I may consider to adopt 2 system. To me, have a chance to use Legendary 5D series is something I am looking for. Will wait for more report and decide later.(No hurry, I can wait:))

Last time I used to think Canon had a good time thrashing nikon with lower prices for lenses and bodies, and much better iso performance, higher MP counts. These are good reasons for ship jumping.
Then as D3, D300, D700 and D90 were released... WOW la. Nikon switched to cmos sensors and iso performance improved dramatically. And true enough, mp counts aren't the most important things..

if you can ignore all the bells and whistles the 5D MK2 is trumpeting, you should be able to pick up the original 5D for a fraction of the price.

iirc, the release was $6K....ouch. you might be able to get it for $1.5K after MK2 is out.

MK2 release probably $3.5K to teach the D700 a lesson.

so nikon will have to drop the prices to match canon's. win win for everyone. :bsmilie:

CCD technology has reached its threshold so the switch to CMOS was inevitable. at least now nikon doesn't have to depend on sony for the sensors.

Lol. Used a borrowed low-end Canon EOS to take photos during a farewell dinner. Then tried my friend's D60 and now sold to Nikon. First DSLR will be D90.

One more thing to pull you over to Nikon's every growing ship. Join the Nikon Club and get 3 mths warranty free:D. Bet ya that Canon does'nt do this to try and keep their customers.

Yeah its great to know that any second hand old Nikon made lens would work on your new D -series DSLR. Worse come to worse just use MF.

Beat this Canon -I got a Nikon 16-85mm VR ED for $880.

Canon equivleant 17-85mm IS.... the review is lousy. You see many people letting go.

Or if you have 5D can get the 24-105mm L.

At least nikon entry level lenses has more "high quality ED glasses".
Canon must get the expensive L.

Oh by the way, EF-S lenses won't mount on a 5DII.

Think of it as the other way round.. Sony should be depending on Nikon for the full frame litho steppers. I think they might have an agreement for Nikon to run their own design on their fab in exchange for the stepper? I dunno but the likelihood is there. :dunno:

I think Nikon doesn't need to.. The 18-200VR is the first time I had to step into NSC in my 20 years of photography. It's Nikon all the way for me because my dad already did the groundwork. He never had good experience with the other brands and finally stuck with Nikon.

i have used paper from canon, epson, HP, konica, kodak and sepom. the worst i used was fullmark. after 72hrs still wet to the touch.

currently only using canon, epson and sepom paper.

Try the Fujifilm. But you will need to profile the paper.
