That seems to be pretty near the average market rate for this lens for now at least. 16-35L has always been above 2k.

I think the 24-70 and 16-35 are pretty similar in price. Got my 24-70 for 2.1k a few months back with warranty and I recently noticed a similar price in early Sep. Grey imports (no warranty) will be about 15% cheaper (i.e. 1700 SGD for the 16-35). Tongeh (lenses and flashes forum) may be able to help...
